Help Prevent Hospital Acquired Infection
Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) are infections that can happen during your hospital stay.
1. SPEAKUP!TMTalktoyourdoctor about any questions or concerns
you have about hospital acquired infection.
2. WASHYOUR
HANDS. Everyone
should WASH
THEIR HANDS
before and after
touching you. Don't be
afraid to remind your doctor or sta to WASH THEIR HANDS, if you didn't see them do it.
3. KEEPYOURFLUVACCINE UP-TO-DATE to prevent any complications during your stay.
4. ASKABOUTANTIBIOTICS.
Make sure you are getting the right antibiotic for your speci c infection.
5. KNOWTHESYMPTOMS.
The chart on the next page will help you identify the symptoms of infection. If you have ANY of these symptoms, tell your doctor immediately.
6. TREAT DIARRHEA SERIOUSLY. Tell your doctor if you have
had 3 or more diarrhea episodes within24 hours, especially
if you have beentaking an antibiotic.
