If the hospital receives your mail
after you’ve been discharged, it will be returned to its sender. Flowers delivered after you leave, however, are returned to the orist. Outgoing mail may be left at the nurse’s station or given to a volunteer.
MEDICATIONS
Patients are not permitted to take their own medications or keep them at
bedside. Your doctor
will prescribe your
medications to be
dispensed by the
hospital pharmacy.
Your nurse will administer
your medicines to you. While you are a patient at WCCH, we will provide your medication in the form of a single-unit dose whenever possible. Pharmacy hours are M–F, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
OXYGEN
Special rules are in e ect in areas where patients are using oxygen. Battery-operated toys or friction toys (which create sparks) are not allowed in
these areas. Absolutely no smoking is permitted in any room in which oxygen is in use or on standby.
PASTORAL CARE
Clergy members are welcome to visit with you and your family during your hospital stay. Your nurse can assist you in contacting the clergy of your choice.
PHYSICIANS & HOSPITALISTS
Your primary care physician or a hospitalist will supervise your care from admission until discharge.
A hospitalist’s only focus is to take
care of patients when they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work in close consultation with the patient’s primary care physician and specialists.
PHOTOGRAPHS & VIDEOS
Due to con dentiality and privacy, no photographs or videos of patients, families or WCCH employees are permitted; the only exception to this is the Maternity Unit and Nursery.
VALUABLES & PERSONAL ITEMS
Please leave your valuables at home. Contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids
and dentures should be stored in your bedside stand when not in use. Please don’t put them on your bed or food tray—they may be damaged or lost. WCCH is not responsible for the loss or replacement of personal belongings.
If you cannot send your valuables home, an Admissions Representative or member of the nursing sta can place them in the hospital safe. You will be given a written receipt for all items and this receipt must be presented when you withdraw them. Medications cannot be stored in the hospital safe.
WCCH IS A TOBACCO-FREE CAMPUS
Patients, sta and visitors are not allowed to use tobacco products (including smokeless or electronic) on the hospital campus, parking lots, sidewalks, lawn areas or any hospital- owned property.
WEAPONS
Possession, use or display of weapons is prohibited within WCCH and any building owned or used for WCCH business purposes.
