SMOKING POLICY
We are a tobacco-free campus.
If you want to smoke or use tobacco products, you must leave hospital property, which includes all buildings, walkways, and parking lots.
e decision to become tobacco-free was made out of concern for the health, safety, and well-being of all who visit and work at our facilities. Based on this decision, we do not provide accommodations for smokers. If you are a smoker and are interested, smoking cessation information is available from the American Lung Association of Houston.
For more information on smoking cessation, call 713-629-5864 or visit TexasLung.org. If you are being admitted as a patient, please be advised that there
is no smoking or use of tobacco on any property owned by CHI St. Luke’s Health– e Vintage Hospital.
We do o er nicotine patches, other tobacco alternatives, and smoking cessation literature to assist you during your hospital stay. If you leave hospital property to use tobacco, or for other personal reasons, you are asked to notify your nurse so that you can be located, if necessary, and may be asked to sign a “Release of Responsibility” form. In addition, your physician will be noti ed of your departure from hospital property. Your voluntary discharge from hospital property may result in your discharge from CHI St. Luke’s Health–
e Vintage Hospital. Such a discharge may be recorded as a voluntary discharge “against medical advice.” You will need to consult with your insurance carrier
to determine if a voluntary departure from the hospital, against medical advice, a ects your insurance coverage for the hospital admission.
