                                            Thank you for volunteering your time and effort in working with the clubs intramural players as

                                            we look to give our players an enjoyable and rewarding experience each season as they play the
                                            beautiful game.
                                            Please note we are all on the same team and have the players development and best interests at
                                            heart so this handbook is by no means a complete guide, and we encourage you to reach out to

                                            the clubs coordinators and coaching directors if you have any questions or need any additional
                                            `help' during the season.
                                            The club website and social media platforms are also good resources and have numerous links to
                                            coaching education materials.
                                            We would recommend you search online for The US Youth Soccer Coaching Manual which is very
                                            informative.

                                               The following principles are what US Youth Soccer reference so that youth players receive a healthy and
                                               positive youth soccer experience;
                                               (1). Developmentally Appropriate. Making sure the requirements or demands of an activity fall within the
                                            range of players soccer experience.  (2). Clear, Concise and Correct Information. How instructions are given

                                            is crucial when dealing with young children. Too much information overwhelms them and too little
                                            information doesn't give them enough to get started.  (3). Simple to Complex. Making sure the activites are
                                            presented in a way that allows for ongoing modifications and new challenges to meet the player's interests
              Click to insert session diagram  and abilities.  (4). Safe and Appropriate Training Area. Ensuring the area is free of hazardous materials and
                                            safe from environmental dangers. Making sure the training environment is psychologically safe, with the child
                                            feeling emotionally secure.  (5). Decision Making. Making sure there are opportunities for players to make
                                            decisions, which may be spatial, temporal or kinesthetic. These need to be present in all activities for learning
                                            to occur.  (6). Implications for the Game. The activities presented in a training session must in some way
                                            reflect the demands a player faces in the game.


                                            The handbook includes 3 session plans with various activities and progressions that you could/
                                            should look to work with your teams during the season.
                                             The sessions cover the key technical skills of the game  - Dribbling / Individual Possession / Short
                                            Passing / Receiving - that will give the players thousands of touches on the ball as well making
                                            hundreds of decisions.
                                            Activities are  - or should be  - Age Appropriate, Dynamic, Organized, & Fun.
                                            Each session plan can be modified and adapted based on the `level' of players in your group, and

                                            sessions should be repeated during the season with the progression options detailed in each
                                            activity.
                                            Prior to the start of the season the club will host an Intramural Coaches Clinic where each
                                            session will be presented and activities shown so coaches have chance to `see' the activities
                                            as well as participate in Q&A.


                                            Recommended Season Training Schedule (8 Week Season  - 60 Minute Sessions)
                                               Wk.1  - Improve Ball Mastery & Technical Dribbling (Activities 1-2-4)
                                            Wk.2  - Improve Individual Possession & 1v1 Dribbling (Activities 1-2-4)
                                               Wk.3  - Improve Short Passing & Receiving (Activities 1-2-4)
                                            Wk.4  - Improve Ball Mastery & Technical Dribbling (Activities 1-3-4)
