 ______ Get Homeowners Insurance secured and obtain a “Policy Binder” for your lender.
 ______ When you are at the Home Inspection, make a note of the utilities at the property. Is the property all electric or is there also gas or propane? You will need to notify the power company and the gas company (if the home has natural gas) to put these utilities into your name on your closing date. The water and sewer bills are automatically transferred by the title company who is handling your closing so you don’t have to make calls for water and sewer.
 ______ Mark your calendar NOW to remind yourself to make the calls FOR UTILITIES at least 10 days prior to settlement.
