PROJECT NAME:
JEEP RATCHET-LOCK MECHANISM
✓ Have you wondered as to why the jeep from the story did not
roll back down the hill while it was getting reeled in by the
tow truck?
✓ The answer to that is where our Ratchet-lock mechanism
has come to save the day.
➢ So what is a ratchet?
A ratchet is a mechanical device that allows continuous
linear or rotary motion in only one direction while
preventing motion in the opposite direction. In our case,
it is a part of the winch, also known as amechanical brake
where this ratchet-lock mechanism prevents it from
unwinding and hence allows the jeep to be pulled upward
rather than sliding down while being rescued.
