                  Recommendations: FREN 201, 202, 301, and 302 should be taken in sequence before proceeding
                  to other courses. A maximum of six transfer credits will be accepted provided they were
                  completed during the two-year period preceding enrollment at Bowie State University.

                  SPANISH LANGUAGE
                  A Spanish language minor may be used with any major in the University, including areas such as
                  business, social work, psychology, education, and science. Students will gain a significant auxiliary
                  skill  with the  acquisition of  a  foreign language.  The  Spanish language  minor  is  a  21-credit-hour
                  program offering learning experiences that prepare students to  understand the language at the
                  conversational level and to use it in a variety of settings. The Spanish language minor will prepare
                  the Bowie graduate to move into a variety of employment areas or to continue graduate studies at
                  schools where a foreign language is a prerequisite for admission.

                  HISPANIC CULTURE
                  The Hispanic culture minor is an 18-credit-hour program that offers the student an opportunity to
                  gain  a  deeper  understanding  of  Hispanic  culture  through  study  of  historical,  economic,  artistic,
                  literary, and political developments in the Spanish-speaking world. Students will also gain a deeper
                  understanding of Spanish cultures and their interaction with the United States. The minor offers
                  students  opportunities  to  prepare  for  graduate  study  at  schools  where  a  foreign  language  is  a
                  prerequisite for admission.
