MRS. MARIAN YORK FLOWERS
Mrs. Marian York Flowers passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015.
The homegoing celebra- tion will be held Friday, Sep- tember 4, 2015, at 10 a. m. at Mt. Olive AME Church, 1902 W. LaSalle Street, with Rev- erend Gregory V. Gay, Sr., of- ficiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marian to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105
Marian York Flowers was a native of Tampa. She at- tended the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Middleton High School in 1947.
After graduation, she at- tended Selma Junior College in Selma, Alabama, and graduated in 1949. She con- tinued her education in 1949, enrolling in Florida A&M College, majoring in Elemen- tary Education.
In the Spring of 1950, she pledged Zeta Phi Beta Soror- ity, Inc. through the Gamma Alpha Chapter at FAMC.
In November 1951, she married Connie L. Flowers and returned to college in January 1952. She gradu- ated in June 1952 in the last class of Florida A&M College, which was renamed Florida A&M University.
Her husband was in the United States Air Force and their traveling journey began -- moving every three years for the next 23 years. She
lived in Puerto Rico, Canada, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Kansas and Japan. She also had the opportunity to teach in many of the places where she lived, including Japan.
Her husband retired from the United States Air Force in 1973, and she returned to Tampa and continued her teaching career in the Hills- borough County Public Schools. She received her Master’s Degree in Educa- tion from the University of Tampa in 1981.
Marian retired from the Hillsborough County Public Schools in June 1993.
Marian was a member of Mount Olive AME Church and served as a Steward, Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Stewardess, Direc- tor of Christian Education and on several other auxil- iaries of the church.
Marian joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in 1950, and served as President, Fi- nancial Secretary, Treasurer and Chaplain and was voted twice “Zeta of the Year”. A lifetime member, Marian was instrumental in the pur- chasing of the first Zeta House in Tampa.
Marian was preceded in death by: her parents, Fred and Annie Mae York; hus- band, Connie L. Flowers; son, Ellis Flowers; brothers, Fred, Ellis, Rudolph, David, Edward and Albert York; and grandson, James Flow- ers.
Marian is survived by: 5 children, Army Brigadier General (Retired) Michael (Lesia), Cheryl, Attorney Brian (Angelyn), Melba, and James; 8 grandchildren, Lea (Mark), Felicia (Pablo), Adrian, Vance, Zachary, Shawn, Kelsey and Jamie; 4 great granddaughters; sister, Marlene York Monroe (John); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and de- voted friends.
THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC VIEWING.

MR. JAMES A. WARREN, JR.
Mr. James A. Warren, Jr. also known as, "Jr. Warren", "Boss", "Captain", of Tampa, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015.
A memorial homegoing celebration will be conducted today Friday, September 4, 2015, from 7:30-8:30 p. m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Av- enue, with Reverend Dr. Henry J. Lyons, officiating. The interment will be pri- vate.
Mr. Warren, 86, was a life- long native and resident of Tampa. He was educated by the public schools of Hills- borough County.
Mr. Warren joined the church at an early age and was a member of First Bap- tist Church of College Hill, under the leadership of Rev. Abe Brown.
After he lost his son, he united with New Salem Mis- sionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Henry J. Lyons until his ill- ness.
Mr. Warren retired from Winn Dixie Warehouse as Superintendent after 381⁄2 years. After seven years of relaxing, he started a second career as a Security Guard working part-time and then full time serving 20 years until his illness.
Mr. Warren was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Jennie V. War- ren; two brothers, David and Bernard Warren; his only son, James Oliver Warren, III; and nephew, Derwin V. Bozeman.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving, caring and devoted Janice; sister, Mary (Robert) Bozeman; two brothers, Alphonso Warren, New York, and Douglas (Connie) Warren, Niceville, FL; sister-in-law, Evelyn Warren; nieces, Patricia Gre- gory, Cherise Warren, Stephanie Warren and Sab- rina Warren; nephews, Bishop David Warren, Jr., Kenneth C. Warren, Bernard Warren, Jr., Marlon (Sheila) Bozeman and Alphonso War- ren, Jr., New York; godchil- dren, Dina (Maurice) Mason, Lamar Baisden, Donald Sturks, II (Dennise), Yvonne (Keynaldo) Hudson, the Jones and the Pride families; a host of devoted friends, family, special friends and neighbors; just to name a few, Lavern Logan, Clayton and Wynie Anderson, Mau- rice and Cassandra Tucker, Curtiss Williams, Carlton Henderson, Bernard Clark, Washington Family, Earl Mann, Richard Pacelko, Crist Curry, Roman Milton, Sturks family, Duncan, James and Michelle Harris, Maxwell, Sam and Selphenia Shields,
the Lowe, Pringle and James families, Carolyn Kirk, North Carolina, Oscar Hill, Winn Dixie Crew, US Security, Green Acres, and Culbreath Isle Community.
The remains will repose after 5 p. m., Friday, Septem- ber 4, 2015, at Ray Williams Funeral Home.

MR. RAYMOND A. WILLIAMS, SR.
Mr. Raymond A. Williams, Sr. of 2118 Chestnut St., Tampa, 33607, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sep- tember 5, 2015, at 11 a. m. at First Baptist Church of West Tampa, 1302 N. Willow Av- enue, with Reverend Dr. Rayford Harper, pastor, offi- ciating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Raymond was born and raised in Tampa, and is the son of Margaret Williams and the late Raymond Jones. He attended Howard W. Blake High School and was an active, faithful member of Blake’s Class of 1969. Later, he attended Hillsborough Community College and Con- corde Institute where he ob- tained his Certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
He was retired at the time of his death but enjoyed making “Frozen Cups” for the neighborhood.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and de- voted mother, Margaret Williams, Tampa; two sons, Alex Mercer and Raymond Williams, Jr. (Delticeer), Tampa; daughter, Jimika Williams, Sarasota, FL; sis- ter, Hattie “Peaches” Bowers and her loyal and devoted friend, Larry, Wesley Chapel/Plant City, FL; seven grandchildren, Delvon Mayes, Au’Ziria Blanc, Ju’Huan Mayes and Jayceon Mayes, Sarasota, FL, and Ty- rone Howard, Wyannah Col- bert and Willy Colbert, Tampa; aunt, Mary L. Chester, Tampa; nephew, Rene C. He was a true friend to his children’s mothers, LaSharn Quince, Annette Bolton and Bonnie Williams, and leaves a host of other sorrowing family and friends.
The remains will repose after 5 p. m., Friday, Septem- ber 4, 2015, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue and the fam- ily will receive friends from 6-7 p. m.
