Bucs Escape Late
Dolphins QB Becomes First Player Ruled Out By New Concussion Protocol
TEDDY BRIDGEWATER
The Miami Dolphins can- not catch a break when it comes to quarterbacks suffer- ing head injuries.
Dolphins quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets and is in the concussion protocol. Bridgewater also had an elbow injury.
Notably, Bridgewater actually passed concussion tests, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. However, because of the league’s updated protocols adding ataxia to the list of “no-go” symptoms, Bridge- water was ruled out anyway.

The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers took control of first place in the NFC South with a 21-15 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, staving off a late comeback attempt to end their two-game losing streak.
After leading 13-0 at half- time, and 21-0 early in the third quarter, the Bucs al- lowed the Falcons to climb back into the game with a pair of fourth-quarter touch- downs. Tampa Bay got the ball back with just under five minutes remaining in the game, and aided by a pair of third-down penalties that ex- tended the drive, were able to run out the clock and escape with the victory.
Bucs quarterback Tom Brady finished the game with 351 yards through the air, in- cluding a one-yard touch- down pass to Leonard Fournette, who led team with 10 receptions for 83 yards. Fournette also paced

Bucs safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. was the star of the defense, leading the team with eight tackles, two tackles for loss, and a strip-sack.
Tampa Bay’s narrow vic- tory comes on the heels of back-to-back losses, both at home, and before the Bucs head out on the road to face the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers over the next two weeks.
Matt Rhule Fired
Jackson State football head coach Deion Sanders played spoiler and defeated Alabama State 26-12 on the Hornets' homecoming Satur- day. Then Alabama State coach Eddie Robinson, Jr. played spoiler to Sanders after the game.
Sanders shook hands with Robinson and tried to add a postgame hug, but Robinson rejected Sanders attempt in a mo- ment that captured the tenor of the Southwestern Athletic Conference rivalry.
"My exact words was, 'Hey man, you had them ready to play. Good game,'" Sanders said. "Shook hands and tried to embrace and he pushed off. That was it."
Sanders wore a sur- prised look on his face and opened his palms after Robinson pulled away. Robinson felt Sanders was disrespectful in the media leading up to the game and pregame on the field during pregame, he said.
"I thought there was a lot of disrespect the whole week and so you’re not going to be

disrespectful all week in the media," Robinson said.
Sanders said he was es- pecially "disturbed" when he overheard some of Robin- son's comments before Jackson State moved into the same media room to address the press.
"If I ain't SWAC, then who is SWAC," Sanders re- peated three times, more an- imated each time. "Baby, who is?"
"It could be a plethora of things," Sanders added. "I think he thought he was going to get a win. I don't know why he would've ever thought that...”

 Penalty On Falcons
Referee Jerome Boger did his best to explain after the Falcons-Buccaneers game on Sunday his reasoning for calling a controversial rough- ing the passer penalty.
The officiating crew called Grady Jarrett for roughing Tom Brady on a huge sack on a 3rd-down play late in the game. The penalty call was made even though Jarrett’s tackle seemed completely fine. The call helped the Bucs maintain possession and eventually run out the clock on a 21-15 win.
“What I had was the de- fender grabbed the quarter- back while he was still in the pocket, and unncessarily throwing him to the ground. That is what I was making my decision based upon,” Boger told a reporter after the game.

Brady likely knows he and his team got away with one on that call. He more or less played dumb when asked about the penalty after the game.
"I don't throw the flags."
Falcons head coach Arthur Smith was furious when the call was made dur- ing the game. But after the game, he tried to avoid the subject.
lure him from Baylor, but the Carolina Panthers came in and grabbed him first with a shocking seven-year, $62 mil- lion deal.
The Giants got lucky.
Rhule ended up being an expensive mistake for Pan- thers owner David Tepper. Before the third season of that deal was done, Rhule was fired. The Panthers an- nounced the move on Monday morning. Rhule was 11-27 as Panthers coach. A listless 37- 15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday dropped the Panthers to 1-4 this season and was Rhule's final game as the team's coach. Rhule is the first coach fired this NFL season.
