A HARMON BURIAL
One of the Atlanta-area broth- ers accused of trying to kill their parents told investigators he had schemed to murder them “since he was 11 years old,” po- lice said.
Cameron Ervin, 17, and his brother Christopher, 22, have admitted to “attempting to set the residence on fire, strangling their parents with a pillow and/or plastic bag, and stabbing the father,” according to a Gwin- nett County police warrant ob- tained Monday.
Police said they caught the pair at Yvonne and Zachary Ervin’s Snellville home on Sept. 5 after the mom dialed 911. Neither the motive for the attack nor which brother had appar- ently been plotting since he was 11 was clear on Monday.
The parents said one of the sons had asked if the brothers could make dinner for the fam-

ily on Sept. 4, according to war- rant documents. Their mother told police this was “odd behav- ior.”Investigators believe the two sons mixed Xanax into their parents’ cocktails that night and tried to kill them the next morn- ing. Both parents suffered seri- ous injuries, and Zachary Ervin was hospitalized for six days.
The attack continues to shock the family’s friends, who are baffled that the brothers have mentioned a “bad home life” to prosecutors.

Businessman Pleads Guilty In Money Laundering Scam
A 52-year-old former Tampa businessman has pleaded guilty to money laundering by using his business to sell vehicles to individuals, but placing in the name of straw purchasers.
According to the indictment,
Raymond L. Rodriguez, Jr.,
owned Rodriguez Auto Whole- sale, 4116 N. Florida Avenue. Of- ficials said that at some point in 2009, Rodriguez agreed to disguise large cash transactions from the government by accept- ing payment for vehicles with- out reporting the sale and by placing the vehicles in the names of straw purchasers be- cause he knew the funds were il- legally obtained by filing false federal income tax refunds.
Officials said Rodriguez also agreed to keep a lead on some of the vehicles, although he had received full payment. If the vehicles were seized by law enforcement, Rodriguez could re-claim possession and return the seized cars to the purchaser or family members.
Law enforcement learned about Rodriguez’ involvement after several members of the drug trafficking organization (DTO) said they had purchased expensive vehicles from Ro- driguez at the car lot.
One member of the organiza- tion said he purchased several vehicles from Rodriguez be- cause he (Rodriguez) told the man he would have to “worry about the Feds.” DTO members also told investigators that Ro- driguez knew the money used to purchase the cars came from drug deals and income tax fraud.
When officials reviewed the company’s bank records, they identified approximately 953 cash deposits into 5 different ac- counts. The $3,772,335.23 de- posited between 2009 and 2012 was in amounts less than $10,000. Officials said Ro- driguez and his co-conspira- tors “structured the deposits of the money laundering pro- ceeds.”
