Beau Biden, 46, the son of Vice Presi- dent, Joe Biden died on Saturday evening after being taken to Walter Reed Army Medical Center earlier this month for rea- sons that, at the time, were left unex- plained.
The Vice President had been reducing public appearances to visit his son but, until his passing, only family knew that Beau was undergoing aggressive treatment after his cancer returned.
But Vice President Joe Biden quietly honored his son in a moving speech for Yale's commencement on May 17, while also telling the graduating seniors that 're- ality has a way of intruding' one's life.
Biden recalled when he became the sec-
ond youngest man to ever be elected in the U. S. Senate in 1972, a major moment in his burgeoning political career that only fueled his 'raw ambition'.
But, the Vice President said, 'things can change in a heartbeat'. And it would for him when, six weeks later, his wife and one- year-old daughter were killed in a car crash just a week before Christmas.
Biden's two young sons, Beau and Hunter, were also in the car and, he said, at first doctors weren't sure they would live.
Biden focused on his sons, who he called 'my redemption'.
Beau, Biden's eldest child, would go on to serve as the Attorney General of Delaware and was a veteran of the Iraq war.
Both Democrats and Re- publicans and even celebri- ties expressed their deepest condolences following Beau Biden's tragic death.
Beau Biden, the 46- year-old son of Joe Biden, died from brain cancer on Saturday.
CBS reported that Presi- dent Obama and First Lady Michelle, traveled to the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington for a special visit with Joe Biden and his mourning family.
The White House an- nounced that a reception for Ford's Theatre that was scheduled to occur at the White House Sunday was
cancelled out of respect for the vice president and his family.
'Michelle and I humbly pray for the good Lord to watch over Beau Biden, and to protect and comfort his family here on Earth,' POTUS and FLOTUS said in a statement on Saturday evening.
President Obama also said he and his wife Michelle considered Beau a friend, and praised his pub- lic service and devotion to his family.
Hillary and Chelsea Clinton also paid tribute, describing him as a 'wonder- ful man' who was 'so full of life, love, honor, and service.'

John Kerry Breaks His Leg In Biking Crash
U. S. Secretary of State John Kerry has delayed his trip back to the United States to stay in a Swiss hospital overnight after breaking his leg in a bicycle crash Sunday.
State Department spokesman John Kirby said that after further con- sultation, it was decided it was sensible for Kerry to re- main in the hospital for ob- servation overnight. Kerry had to scrap the rest of a four-nation trip that in- cluded an international con- ference on combating the Islamic State group.
