The Bucs Haven't
Jets Could Trade Le'Veon Bell Before Season
LE’VEON BELL
Where there is Le'Veon Bell, there is a rumor, and the one that came out Friday is a juicy one.
With the Jets firing general manager Mike Maccagnan this week, New York has put coach Adam Gase in charge temporarily.
There's a lot of things that need to be addressed here.
For one, this statement comes after a report emerged in the New York Daily News this week that Gase didn't want to sign Bell to a big contract. He also didn't want to give any running back a big deal at all.
And according to one ESPN analyst, this could result in a roster move involving the re- cently acquired running back.
Chris Long Announces Retirement After 11 Seasons
CHRIS LONG Defensive end Chris Long
is calling it a career.
The two-time Super Bowl
champion announced via Twit- ter on Saturday that he is retir- ing from the NFL.
Long finishes with 70 ca- reer sacks and 15 forced fum- bles over 11 seasons while playing in 162 of 176 possible games -- he started in 103 of them. His teams went 7-1 in the postseason. The 33-year- old Long ends on a high note after receiving the 2018 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award this past February. His previous two Februarys in- cluded world championships. Long won back-to-back Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Ea- gles, with whom he played his final two seasons.

    Asked Gerald McCoy
To Take A Pay Cut
One of the major stories this offseason for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been the contract situation of defen- sive tackle and three-time All-Pro Gerald McCoy. The veteran is scheduled to make $13M if he plays for the Bucs in 2019, although none of that money is guaranteed.
The general consensus around the league has been that the Buccaneers will eventually release the fran- chise favorite, given that new head coach Bruce Arians has openly questioned whether the veteran’s pro- duction of late warrants the hefty price tag. McCoy has been a no-show for all offsea- son voluntary workouts so far, and was absent for the start of OTA’s yesterday.
While fans may think the major holdup is McCoy being unwilling to take a pay cut in his salary. The team
GERALD MCCOY
hasn’t not yet asked the All- Pro to do that.
Likely because the team is hoping they will find some- one willing to trade for McCoy as opposed to them just releasing him outright. It may be wishful thinking to believe the Bucs and McCoy could still find a way to make things work. Given his ab- sence all offseason, and the disgruntled fans who have been after him, maybe a new team and fresh start would be best for both parties.
The Toronto Raptors found life in the Eastern Con- ference finals.
It definitely wasn’t easy and wasn’t always pretty. It required not one but two overtimes and a sub-par per- formance from Milwaukee Bucks all-star Giannis Ante- tokounmpo.
But the Raptors found a way, thanks to Kawhi Leonard’s clutch perform- ance. Leonard scored 19 of his game-high 36 points in the fourth quarter and overtimes as the Raptors defeated the Bucks 118-112 in double-over-
time.
Leonard’s steal and
dunk put Toronto ahead 112- 109 and his driving bank shot gave Toronto a 114-110 lead with 32 seconds left in the second overtime.
Playing a fraction better in front of the energized home fans at Scotiabank Arena — it’s one of the best environ- ments in the NBA — the Rap- tors crawled back into the series, avoiding a disastrous 3-0 hole.
"It's a must-win, and we got it done," Raptors guard Kyle Lowry said.
   Patrick Peterson:
 'I'm Not Happy, But
Relieved It's Out'

It was a career-altering day for Cardinals standout cornerback Patrick Peter- son on Thursday when news of his impending suspension was announced.
Hours later he made a statement and faced ques- tions.
"Definitely, definitely sorry [for] what broke out today, but for the most part, I think you guys understand my character and also under- stand my commitment on and off the field, and also to my teammates, and also to the Arizona Cardinals organ- ization," Peterson said in a statement to the local media at the 2019 Patrick Peterson Celebrity Golf Tournament.
The six-game suspension on a player's first violation stems from a positive test plus an attempt to manipu- late or mask the result, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. It was announced by the NFL on Thursday that Peterson would be suspended for six games to start the upcoming

season due to a violation of the league's performance-en- hancing drug policy.
"I knew about it for months," Peterson said via ABC15 Arizona's Shane Dale. "I'm not happy, but re- lieved that it's out."
Though it seems to pale in comparison now, before news of the suspension, Peterson was looking for an extension and had missed voluntary mini-camp in April. Peter- son has two seasons left on his current contract, of which he's set to be paid $11M in 2019 and $12.05M in 2020.
He will be eligible to re- turn in Week 7 against the Gi- ants.
Kawhi Leonard may have benefited from the ref- erees missing a double drib- ble by him during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday night.
Leonard led his Toronto Raptors with 36 points in their 119-112 win in double overtime against the Milwau- kee Bucks. In the second overtime, he made a dunk in transition and appeared to have gotten away with a dou- ble dribble.
You can see he appeared to touch the ball with his left hand by the three-point line around the same time he was touching it with his right. He then went in for the dunk, finishing with his left.
The dunk made it 108-105

with 3:13 left in the extra pe- riod. There was still plenty of time for Milwaukee to come back even despite Toronto getting away with one there. Coming back was a tough task with Eric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton both shooting 3-for-16 and Gian- nis Antetokounmpo foul- ing out of the game.
