On Sunday, September 24th, members of the commu- nity will come together for the annual Longshoremen’s Fellowship Hour Worship Service. The event will take place at Mt. Tabor M. B. Church, 2606 W. Grace Street, at 3:30 p.m.
The idea of hosting a wor- ship service took root several years ago. The encourage- ment of Mrs. Willie Nealy and Mrs. Ruth Fleming to cater to the spiritual needs of the longshoremen served as the inspiration to create the organization.
REV. JEROME GRIFFIN ...Keynote Speaker
The organization was founded in October 1978 at Greater Friendship M. B. Church. Since that time, he has been a yearly event that
brings members of the com- munity together for a com- mon cause. The organization will host its 40 Anniversary this year.
Rev. Jerome Griffin
has been chosen as the keynote speaker for the event.
The officers include Rev. John Anderson, Deacon Blakely Ford, Alvin Han- cock, Stanley Jefferson and Deacon Anthony White. Throughout the year, members of the organization travel throughout the county visiting various churches.
They help to support the churches with finances raised from annual event.
