Retired Deputy Dies After Lengthy Illness
TOBA Presents Awards To Youth Groups

A well known retired member of law enforcement died following a lengthy ill- ness. Mr. Ralph H. Un- derwood was 65-years-old.
A Tampa native Mr. Un- derwood attended the pub- lic schools of Hillsborough County. He graduated from Blake high School in 1968. He continued his education at Savannah State Univer- sity, where he earned his de- gree. He also earned his Master’s Degree from the University of South Florida.
His wife, Mrs. Regina Jackson Underwood said her husband worked on sev- eral jobs before joining the Tampa Police Department. Mr. Underwood later ob- tained employment with the Hillsborough County Sher- iff’s Office and remained there until he retired in 2008. He served the citizens of Hillsborough County for 18 years, retiring as a result of his illness.
When his health allowed it, Mr. Underwood en- joyed fishing, golfing, and bowling. He also enjoyed being active at the 34th Street Church Of God,

Mr. Underwood was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Underwood is sur- vived by 4 children, other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held for him on Saturday, May 21st, at 11 a.m. Ray Williams Funeral Home is in charge of handling arrange- ments.
