Businessman Shares ‘His Story’ With Young People

Rechi Butler, Founder of ‘Get It Straight’ Founda- tion, speaks to young people throughout the state. He en- joys sharing his story. He shares a message with them that “you are not your past.” He tells them that decision- making and making better choices are what it takes to become a law-abiding citi- zen. He knows, he’s been through it.
Butler has written a book, “From Church To State,” that he also shares with young people in his travels.
He tells them that you can rise above your past, as he has to become an entrepre- neur. “Sometimes people

want to hold that over young people, to keep them holding their heads down, but I tell them they don’t have to do that.
“You can be raised the right way, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll make the right decisions when the time comes,” he explains.
