One Church One Child held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, 5920 Robert Tolle Dr., in Riverview. The re- cent event was held to celebrate the new location for One Church One Child’s SunCoast Region Office.
In attendance were One Church One Child of Florida’s Staff, their State Board of Direc- tors, Local Advisory Committee Members, representatives from various community- based care agencies, One Church One Child Church Partners and other com- munity leaders.
The One Church One Child program was founded in 1980 to help the state of Illinois success- fully address the disproportion- ate number of African American children lingering in the foster care system. The program was
implemented in Florida in March of 1988 to address the state’s overrepresentation prob- lem.
One Church One Child of Florida partners with the Florida Department of Children and Families, churches and community- based care lead agencies and local organizations to help raise awareness and ed- ucate the faith community and individuals regarding the needs of children in foster care. Rev. Beverly H. Lane serves as the Florida State Board of Directors President and Regional Vice- President for National One Church One Child.
“We would like to thank our neighboring community for coming out. One Church One Child is a source of finding com- fort and love for children who are in need of a good home. We
want to keep One Church One Child, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, available to reach out to every child in need to find a home with love as close as our own beating heart.” says Rev. Lane. “We need good, God- fearing people such as one’s self to help One Church One Child accomplish our goal of accommodating our chil- dren.”

Releasing My Child Into God’s Hands
Lord, I come to You in Jesus’ name and give (name of child) to You. I’m convinced that You alone know what is best for him (her). You alone know what he (she) needs. I release him (her) to You to care for and protect, and I commit myself to pray for everything concerning him (her) that I can think of or that You put upon my heart. Teach me how to pray and guide me in what to pray about. Help me not to impose my own will when I’m praying for him (her), but rather enable me to pray that Your will be done in his (her) life. Thank You that I can partner with You in raising him (her) and that I don’t have to do it alone.
The mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to ever- lasting on those who fear Him, and His righteous- ness to children’s children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those who remember His command- ments to do them. PSALM 103:17-18
