Juror Scam Alert
Residents Urged To
Chris & Chastity Jackson 12th Anniversary 6-21-04
We love each other today as we did from the start. We will love each other forever with all of our hearts.
Citizens across the United States, including Hillsbor- ough County, are being tar- geted by phone calls and emails threatening them with arrest or prosecution for fail- ing to comply with jury serv- ice in state and federal courts.
Recipients are being pres- sured to provide money or confidential data which could lead to identity theft, in order to avoid fines and jail time.
It is the policy of the Hills- borough County Clerk for the court’s office to contact prospective jurors only through a written court sum- mons sent by U. S. Mail. Ju- rors are not contacted by
telephone, email text mes- sage or any other medium. Jury services does not need to ask for personal informa- tion, and does not require a monetary payment of any amount.
If anyone receives a call re- questing personal informa- tion or money, immediately call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247- 8000.
Concerned citizens may also contact Jury Services at the Clerk’s Office at (813) 276-8100, Ext. 4747 to deter- mine whether or not they have been summoned for jury service.
Review New Voter
Registration Cards
FDOT Releases Statement On TBX Project
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office recently began mailing new voter registration cards. The purpose of the new cards is because some changes have been since the last election.
Ms. Gerri Kramer,
spokesperson for the Hills- borough County Supervisor of Elections Office said, “If you haven’t already received a new card, you will in the near future. We mailing new cards to everyone and we are asking them to take a few minutes to review the information on the cards.”
The reason for the new card issuance is because the redistricting of Congressional and State Senate seats has re- sulted in the formation of a new precinct map.
The new boundaries have reduced the number of precincts in Hillsborough County from 348 to 340; 84% of the former precinct bound- aries did not change; and 96% of the voters will cast ballots at the same precinct they have in the past.
However, some precincts have been eliminated and some have been merged.
Craig Latimer, Hillsbor- ough County Supervisor of Elections said, “it is really im-

portant that voters check their cards carefully and call our office if they see anything that needs to be corrected. We want to ensure that their name, address and party affil- iation are correct, and to see whether their precinct or Election Day Polling place has changed.”

Florida Department of Transportation Secretary, (FDOT) Jim Boxold, said they are committed to work- ing with the community to ensure “we understand their concerns and that we are doing all we can to meet their needs.
“We have been actively meeting with citizens com- munity organizations, busi- ness groups, and elected officials on a weekly basis.
“FDOT also recently opened a new public outreach office that includes weekend and evening hours to help ac- commodate citizens in- quiries.”
Like all FDOT projects, TBX must go through an ex- tensive review process that requires input from local au- thorities. Local elected offi- cials will be voting on the project during their Metro-
