Republicans Claimed Majority Of Votes In Hillsborough County
According to unofficial figures from the Hillsborough County Su- pervisor of Elections Office, the Re- publican candidates claimed the majority of the votes.
In the County, there are 924,891 registered voters. Of that number, 484,303 (52%) cast ballots.
According to the numbers re- leased by the Supervisor’s office Re- publicans went to the polls in great numbers.
After a hard-fought race, Demo- crat Val Demings (46%) was un- able to defeat incumbent Republican Marco Rubio (52%), who is going into his third term.
U. S. Representative Kathy Cas- tor (D) retains her seat after defeat- ing Republican James Judge.
Republicans won seats in Con- gressional Districts 15 and 16. Lau- rel Lee (R) over Alan Cohn (D) and Vern Buchanan (R) defeated Jan Schneider (D) in Congressional District 16.
Governor Ron DeSantis (R)
gets the opportunity to govern the state for another 4 years. He de- feated Charlie Crist (D) in the Governor’s race.
Ashley Moody (R) defeated Aramis Ayala (D) for the Attorney General’s seat.
SENATOR DARRYL ROUSON
Jimmy Patronis (R) defeated Adam Hattersley (D) for Chief Financial Officer.
Naomi Blemur (D) lost to Wilton Simpson (R) for the Com- missioner of Agriculture seat.
Democrat Janet Cruz lost her State Senate District 14 seat to Re- publican Jay Collins.
State Senator Darryl Rouson (D) easily defeated Christina Pay- lan (R) for the District 16 seat.
Danny Burgess (R) overtook
FENTRICE DRISKELL
Mike Harvey (D) for Senate Dis- trict 23 seat.
Michelle Rayner (D) easily defeated Jeremy Brown (R), Dis- trict 62.
The State Representative District 64 seat went to Susan Valdes (D) over Maura Lanz (R).
The District 65 seat was won by Republican Karen Gonzalez Pittman over Jen McDonald (D).
Tracy Koster (R) defeated
David Tillery (D) for the District 66 seat.
Fentrice Driskell (D) will rep- resent District 67 after defeating Re- publican Lisette Bonano.
Lorissa Wright (D) lost to Lawrence McClure (R) for the District 68 seat.
Republican Danny Alvarez de- feated Andrew Learned (D) for District 69.
Eleuterio Salazar, Jr., (D)
lost the race for the District 70 seat to Mike Beltram (R).
Harry Cohen (D) defeated Scott Levinson (R) to retain his seat on the Hillsborough County Commission, District 1.
The County Commission District 2 seat will continue to be held by Ken Hagan (R), who defeated An- gela Birdsong (D).
Two other commissioners lost their seats. Mariella Smith (D) lost her seat in District 5 to Donna Cepeda (R), and Kim Overman (D) lost to Joshua Wostal (R) in District 7.
County Court Judge Group 14 will have a new member. Melissa Black defeated Mike Isaak.
The tax referendum failed to pass.
