Storm News
Tropical Storm Nicole Expected To Hit Florida Tonight (Thursday); Should
Weaken While Moving Across State
Tropical Storm Nicole continues to move toward Florida and near hurricane strength, the Na- tional Hurricane Center says.
At 10 a.m., the Nicole’s center was 25 miles east of Great Abaco Island and 210 miles from West Palm Beach. The storm is moving west-southwest at near 12 mph.
A turn toward the west is expected today(Thursday), followed by a turn toward the northwest on Thursday. The storm should weakend late tonight going by Hillsborough County.
Nicole is expected to weaken more while moving across Florida and the southeastern United States Thursday through Friday, and it is likely to become a post-tropical cyclone by Friday night over the Mid-Atlantic states.
Maximum sustained winds remain near 70 mph with higher gusts.
2022 Elections Quarterbacking
Now that elections are over, we all will see how much Americans know about the threat to our democracy. We say this because more than 345 candidates who ran for of- fice, ran on former president Trump’s coat tail.
We will also know who supported voting laws that make it more difficult for minorities, the poor, students, and the elderly to vote. It will reveal who believes contraception should not be available to men or women.
In a short period of time, elected believers that Donald Trump won the 2020 elections and ignored attempts by Trump Republicans to really steal the 2020 election by sub- mitting names of false electors will be revealed. Indeed, Trump supporters who perpetuated false narratives against practically every Supervisor of Elections in practically every state will come out of hiding. We will see these bold election deniers who will be in control of future elections and will have the power to say how elections in their state will be run in the future.
We will all know who wants to do away with Social Security and who support more tax breaks for billionaires and corpo- rations.
If you think inflation will get better because of a change from one party to another, forget it. The question is, if you know how to solve inflation, or you know how to make the cost of food and gasoline decline, or if you have the answers to the problems of our democracy, why do you have to be elected before you share the solution?
What is it that makes Georgia Republicans support a man with “baby mama drama,” allegations of being an absentee father, and of lying about paying for two abortions for for- mer lovers, over an articulate pastor who has not been ac- cused of such issues?
Our concern today is the politics IQ of the general public. While many schools no longer teach the “problems of democ- racy (PAD) class,” the PAD classes should still be a required subject for high school graduates.
The fact that voters care more about the price of food, gasoline, and their paychecks over the loss of our democracy is frightening. Moreover, the thought that people know how close we came to losing our democracy, yet still elect candi- dates who didn’t oppose it, is scarier.
Only time will tell if the majority of voters chose to go left or do right.
God bless America, please.
