His mother was told that the aspirin he was taking thinned his blood, which led to a clot that traveled to his brain.
An athletic, active, young man died on Sunday, June 17th, Father’s Day, after he suffered a stroke last Thurs- day, June 14th. Jonathan Chris Buie was 38 years old.
His mother, Mrs. Bar- bara Buie said her son was in an office building when he slumped over and was rushed to the hospital. She added that it was about 6 months ago when he suffered a light stroke, his first bout with health concerns. It is believed that after the stroke, he started the aspirin regiment.
Mrs. Buie said the doc- tors explained to her that the aspirin actually thinned his

blood that caused the clot to form. The clot went to the top of his head, causing the stroke, she said.
Jonathan was a standout defensive tackle for Arm- wood High School and earned a 4-year athletic scholarship to Virginia Tech.
He earned his degree in Criminology, with a minor in Sociology, in 3-1/2 years, Mrs. Buie said.
Professionally, he was em- ployed by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office as a Child Investigator, YMCA, Juvenile Justice System, and most recently with WellCare as an Investigator.
Jonathan remained ac- tive in sports as a coach for youth leagues, and other or- ganizations. He was also a member of Masonic organi- zations.
Jonathan and his wife, Sandra are the parents of 4 children. He is also survived by 26 brothers and sisters. His father was the late Johnny Buie, who passed nearly 2 years ago.
Funeral services will be held next Saturday, June 30, 2018, with Wilson Funeral Home handling services.
