Members Of S.W.A.T. Host Tea Social
On Saturday, September 17th, members of SWAT (Successful Women Around Tampa), held their Tea Social. The event took place at the Barksdale Center.
The ladies believe that beauty comes from within and “Reflections in the mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of beauty.” (Photographs by TOBY SCOTT)
First Lady Artest Newkirk, Breketa Goodwin, Reshell Smith, Ladi Apostle Tami Robinson, and Ni- tika Kilpatrick were the speakers of the day.
In keeping with their motto, members of SWAT are shown with their mirrors. Standing on the front row from left to right are: Lalita Lovett, Nicole Rocque, and Natanya Miller. Shown on the back row are: Ayanna McBride, Sonia Baker- Green, Kailaia Grant, Lisa Mingo, Louanne Littlejohn, Carla Joy, CEO of SWAT, and Valerie Cherry. The ladies dressed in white in honor of active member Johnita Catten, who lost her battle with lung cancer earlier this month.
The mom and daughter team who comprise the Holy Divas Praise dancers, Sharmaine (mom) and Shakira (daughter), who held every- one’s attention with their performance.
DJ Douchie provided the music for the event.
Middleton’s 1956 Class Holds Reunion
It was reunion time for George S. Middleton High School’s 1956 graduating class. The classmates met at John Daniel’s home, then had dinner at Olive Gardens. (PHOTOS BY SYLVESTER HAR- RIS)
