   Mom Still Waits On Son’s Murder To Be Solved

If he were still alive,
Warren Donnell Mitchell, Sr., would have celebrated his 41st birthday. But for the past 15 years, his mother, Ms. Wanda Conaway, has celebrated for him.
Mitchell was fatally in- jured by gunfire around 9 p.m., on August 1, 2004. He was in the area of Columbus Drive and MacDill Street when the unknown culprit shot him. He drove a short distance away before sum- moning help.
The then 25-year-old fa- ther contacted a Tampa Po- lice officer and informed him that he (Mitchell) had been shot. Mitchell was trans- ported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries. th
Each year, on January 9 , Ms. Conaway places his birthday memoriam in the

And Ms. Conaway and her family are not the only ones hoping someone will come forward. Detectives with the Tampa Police De- partment are asking anyone with information about the
murder to contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay to provide closure for this fam- ily and bring the person re- sponsible to justice.

But the murder, like that of so many other young men, remains unsolved and has
been relegated to the “Cold Case” file.
“No one has been ar- rested for my son’s murder. I need someone to come for- ward with the information. I know that someone out there knows who is responsible for his murder.

 January 23rd To Discuss Fair Oaks
The City of Tampa Parks & Recreation Department and the East Tampa Com- munity Redevelopment Agency Manager invite the public to attend a special meeting regarding the as- sessment, future needs and improvements for the Fair Oaks Community Center and Playground. The special meeting will take place on January 23rd at 7 p. m.
