British Singer Puts New Spin On Delfonics Classic
London’s Babs Savage (singer/songwriter) has re- leased her new single “La La” in America and it’s getting much love.
Obviously Babs put her own unique twist on the Delfonics’ 1968 classic “La La Means I Love You.”
Bab’s “La La” entered the Urban AC Charts at #138 and moved up to 74 within a week. In fact, it was the 2nd most added song on entry to the Bill- board charts. Expectantly, it was #2 in the UK Urban DJ chart and #5 on the UK Club Charts. Most impressively, “La La” is #1 on Japanese chart. Currently, “La La” is being played in Florida, Georgia, Texas, as well as Little Rock, Chattanooga, Atlantic City are

And with all the excitement about the tune building in the US, Babs is coming to America to promote the tune
Fans of Aaliyah have started a petition in hopes that it will land the late singer her own MAC cosmetics line. Since it launched a week ago, the pe- tition has garnered more than 1,000 of the desired 1,500 sig- natures.
According to the description on the Change.org site, sup- porters hope the makeup com- pany will create a collection that will include “eye shadows, lipsticks, lip liners, lip glosses, contour & highlight, beauty powder, false lashes, eyebrow pencils that represent and are inspired by Aaliyah.”
California resident Jen- nifer Risinger launched the petition last month, saying:

Missy Elliot consigns the Aaliyah make-up line request. Over the weekend, she retweeted the mock advertise- ment featuring the singer.
JILL SCOTT
Despite some people feeling like R&B isn’t what it used to be, the genre is really flourish- ing in 2015. Following Tyrese‘s new album Black Rose hitting no. 1 on the charts, Jill Scott has now hit the no. 1 mark herself in the first debut week for her new album Woman. Her fifth studio project sold a total of 62,000 units.
Woman Claiming To Be Real Life ‘Cookie Lyons’ Suing ‘Empire’ Creators
Detroit woman Sophia Eggleston claims she is the real-life version of “Empire” diva Cookie Lyon, and has filed a $300 million lawsuit against co-creator Lee Daniels and Fox, accusing them of stealing her life story for their hit show.
Eggleston, 53, who says in the suit she was a “drug king- pin” who did jail time for manslaughter for placing a “hit” on a man, claims she wrote her life story into a memoir about her “early drug lifestyle” titled “The Hidden Hand.” In 2011, she traveled to L.A. to meet with screenwriter Rita Miller and gave Miller a copy of her book. Her copy- right suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Michigan, says she got a call from Miller several

months later saying she was going to pitch her story to Daniels.
But when the show aired in 2015, Eggleston says, the Cookie character “was similar in behavior, style of dress, and background” to her.
Reps for Fox, Daniels and “Empire” co-creator and writer Danny Strong, also named in the suit, declined to comment.
Halle Berry And Husband File For Divorce
According to Radar- Online.com Halle Berry and her husband, Olivier Mar- tinez have filed for divorce. As for the cause of the divorce talk, Radar cites that Martinez’s fiery temper as the reason be- hind it.
“It seems Halle and Olivier have finally hit the end of the road,” an insider shared with RadarOnline. “They’ve weath- ered a lot of ups and downs in their relationship, but recently Olivier has been completely MIA.”
Further evidence of a pend- ing split came from another source, which mentioned that trouble with Martinez and

Taraji Gets Star Power Back Up On ‘Lip Sync Battle’ Episode Against Terrance
Dr. Dre’s New Album ‘Compton: The Soundtrack’ To Be Released Friday
Dr. Dre is next up to set the hip hop world ablaze in 2015.
Just ahead of the very highly-anticipated N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Comp- ton hitting theaters in 2 weeks, Dre announced Wednesday that he will be releasing his first album since 2001. Drop- ping the bombshell on his Apple Music Beats 1 show “The Pharmacy,” Dre revealed that the project is inspired by the film and will be titled “Comp- ton: The Soundtrack”.
Even more exciting is the fact that fans won’t even have to wait a full week to get their hands on arguably the most anticipated rap album of the decade, as it will officially be available on both iTunes and Apple Music on August 7. For those who really want to get a head start, “Compton: The Soundtrack” is also available for pre-order on iTunes right now.
In the midst of giving more details about the surprise album, which he called his
Dr. Dre and album cover for ‘Compton: The Soundtrack’.
“grand finale,” Dre also con- firmed that his long-awaited “Detox” album will never see the light of day.
“The reason why Detox didn’t come out is because I didn’t like it. It wasn’t good. The record, it just wasn’t good. I’ma keep it all the way 1000 with you.”
Well, with this new album dropping in just a few days and featuring a who’s who of hip hop & R&B’s most wanted, we doubt that hearing Dre con- firm the death of Detox is much of a let down.
Taraji Henson imperson- ated Mary J. Blige on ‘Lip Sync Battle’. Mary J. showed up to help push Taraji’s per- formance over the edge.
To promote the upcoming second season of FOX’s hit drama “Empire,” Taraji P. Henson and her co-star Ter- rence Howard visited Spike TV’s “Lip Sync Battle” to have a little fun.
In the short clip, Henson took on Mary J. Blige’s hit “Just Fine” while sporting a black ensemble and short, blonde wig -- the signature style of the Queen of Hip- Hop/Soul. Mary J. then joined the actress on stage, and both lip-synced their hearts out to the up-tempo tune.
Tune in on Aug. 20 at 10 p.m. EST on Spike TV to see how Terrence Howard will respond to Taraji's lip-sync challenge. "Empire" will pre- miere on Sept. 23 on FOX.
