To Host 10th Annual Summit

Beginning on Thursday, February 18th, through Sun- day, February 21st, Hillsbor- ough Community College will host its 10th Annual “Black, Brown & College Bound” Summit. An estimated 300 students, representing 20 dif- ferent colleges, will take part in the Summit.
In recognition of this his- toric anniversary, the plan- ners have assembled a powerful lineup of speakers. The speakers include, Hill Harper, award-winning actor, best-selling author, and philanthropist, and Dr. Damon A. Williams, a top

In- cluded on the Summit’s agenda, are topics such as dis- cussions on immigration, a Town Hall on the “Black Lives Matter” movement, a forum on community–based and mentoring, and creative methods to engage at-risk stu- dents in the classroom.
Other topics slated for dis- cussion at the workshops in- clude: “Men of Color and the Federal Financial Aid Process;” “Minority Men in Medicine: The Untapped Re- source;” “So, You’ve Been Stopped By The Police;” “Life Is Not Fair, and Don’t Ever Forget You Are Black And Brown;” and “Discovering Your Educator Swagger: From a 1.9 GPA to the Doc- toral Salute,” among others.
