Woman Injured In Deputy-Involved Shooting
  Police Investigate
  Death Of
4-Year-Old Child
A 39-year-old woman was transported to a local hospi- tal after being shot by a Hills- borough County deputy. The shooting took place after the woman’s ex-boyfriend called 9-1-1 to report that she had pointed a gun at him.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began just before 12:30 p. m., Monday, when an adult man called 9- 1-1 from the Heaven Sent Daycare Center, 3003 S. Kings Ave., in Brandon. He told police he had ran to the daycare center from across the road from the Cypress Trace Apartments. According to the victim, his ex-girlfriend pointed a gun at him as he was exiting the shower at her apartment after she found something in his cellphone that made her irate.
The female suspect, iden- tified as Ms. Terrell Green, allegedly chased the victim through the apartment com- plex with a firearm until he jumped a wrought iron fence to get away. Ms. Green is said to have then got in her vehicle and began driving through the area in search of the victim, armed with a handgun.
Police are investigating the death of a young child. The in- cident took place at the Sun- shine Motel, 4712 E. Hillsborough Avenue.
According to the Tampa Police Department, a 9-1-1 call was received shortly after 2 a.m. Monday about a child being unresponsive. When po- lice arrived, they attempted life-saving measures and transported the 4-year-old to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Police have not identified the child, but another news outlet identified her as Nova Thomas.

Police have not released any additional information, but said the investigation is continuing.
The shooting took place outside 3003 S. Kings Avenue. The suspect was shot after a gun was observed in her vehi- cle. The woman received non-life threatening injuries.
  Man Charged With Attempted Murder
While deputies were re- sponding to the daycare cen- ter to speak with the victim, Ms. Green reportedly found her ex-boyfriend from the road and pulled into the parking lot.
Deputy Michael Castelli and Deputy Kristina Gautier ap- proached Ms. Green’s vehi- cle as she continued to roll through the parking lot. After spotting a handgun in the ve- hicle, Deputy Gautier or- dered the victim to get behind her. For the safety of the vic- tim, the children and staff in- side the daycare and deputies on scene, Deputy Gautier discharged her firearm, strik- ing the suspect inside the ve- hicle in the upper body. The
suspect sustained non-life- threatening injuries and was transported to Tampa Gen- eral Hospital. No deputies or other individuals on scene were injured.
Hillsborough County
Sheriff Chad Chronister
said, “This suspect had no re- gard for the safety of our deputies, the victim or the children inside the daycare. In hunting this victim down, her intent was to finish the job. I am proud of the work of our deputies and their quick actions that kept dozens of individuals out of harm’s way.”
Ms. Green was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and false imprison- ment.
 After Shooting Deputy
A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with shooting a Pinellas County deputy. The shooting took place late Tuesday.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a Circle K, 4900 Ulmerton Road, shortly before 10 p. m., in ref- erence to a domestic dispute between a man and woman.
The woman had reported that the man had threatened her, and she had locked herself in the bathroom inside the Cir- cle K.
Officer Derr arrived and attempted to make contact with the suspect, later identi- fied as Calvin Brockington. Detectives said while in the parking lot of the Circle K, Brockington allegedly walked toward Officer Derr and shot him in the right arm, incapacitating him.
Detectives said when Offi- cer Gavin arrived on scene and confronted Brocking- ton, he shot at her. Officer Gavin returned fire, but did not hit Brockington.
Brockington then car- jacked a vehicle in the parking lot, and drove toward Officer Gavin, before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.
Brockington traveled eastbound on Ulmerton Road,
CALVIN BROCKINGTON, JR.
where Pinellas County Sheriff Office deputies and the Flight Unit began to pursue him.
Brockington drove onto I-275 and fled southbound, where he exited in the area of 928 22nd Avenue South, where he was taken into cus- tody.
Officer Derr was trans- ported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
