Nationally Acclaimed Artist’s Work On Exhibition At University Of Tampa
Woodcuts of nationally ac- claimed artist Maxwell Tay- lor were on exhibit during February at the University of Tampa, Studio-f. Sixteen ex- traordinary woodcuts that in- clude social, economic and political subjects were on dis- play.
Taylor was the visiting artist on campus for two
weeks creating a series of monoprints. He gave a talk at the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery and a reception was held in his honor on February 26.
Influenced by Black power artists, Taylor showed a un- compromising commitment to social realism through his woodcuts, etchings and stark canvases.
Studio-f at the University of Tampa is an innovative visit- ing artist program to intro- duce national and international artists to the Tampa Bay community by giv- ing students and art enthusi- asts an opportunity to meet the artists and see them work- ing in the studio.
