Job Well Done First Lady! Accomplishments Of Mrs. Obama
As we take a look back over the last eight years, the Obama Administration has accom- plished a lot, and shaken some things up in order to move this country forward. But we can’t forget about the accomplish- ments of President Obama’s right hand (no, not Joe), the First Lady, Michelle Obama. Michelle has will- ingly taken some of the most controversial issues in Ameri- can history and went head to head to fight them.
Take a look: Part 1
1. In 2010, she launched Let’s
Move!, bringing together com- munity leaders, educators, medical professionals, parents, and others in a nationwide ef- fort to address the challenge of childhood obesity.
2. In 2010 she passed The School Lunch program with bi- partisan support. The program provides free and reduced-price meals to more than 21 million low-income children, now re- quires districts to serve more fruit, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and low-fat dairy products.
3. Walgreens, Supervalu, Wal-Mart and several regional grocers announced a commit- ment to build or expand 1,500 stores in communities with lim- ited or no access to healthy food. This initiative will create thousands of local jobs, and will provide access to fresh food to an estimated 9.5 million people
who currently have limited ac- cess.
4. Darden, the world’s largest full service restaurant com- pany, which owns Olive Gar- den, Red Lobster and other chains, made a commitment to improve kids’ menus by offer- ing a fruit or vegetable and low- fat milk with every meal.
5. The First Lady launched MyPlate and MiPlato, an easy to understand icon to help par- ents make healthier choices for their families. More than 6,100 community groups and 100 na- tional organizations and corpo- rations have partnered with the USDA to give families across the country access to this im- portant nutritional informa- tion.
6. The First Lady worked with the U.S. Tennis Associa- tion to build or refurbish more than 6,200 kid-sized tennis courts across the country, sign up more than 250,000 kids to complete their PALAs, and train 12,000 coaches to help kids learn the sport of tennis.
7. The First Lady launched Let’s Move! Child Care to en- sure that our youngest children are getting a healthy start. As of January of 2013, more than 10,000 child care professionals and organizations have regis- tered to implement new criteria for nutrition, physical activity, and limited screen time.

which they lowered the cost of fruits, vegetables, and whole grain products by $1 billion in 2011. Wal-Mart has also pledged to work with manufac- turers to eliminate trans fats and remove 10% of the sugar and 25% of the sodium in the food they sell by 2015.
9. Through Chefs Move to School, 2,400 chefs and nearly 4,000 schools have signed up to work together, teaching kids about healthy eating and help- ing cafeteria staff prepare healthier meals
10. The country’s largest food manufacturers pledged to cut 1.5 trillion calories from the food they sell by 2015 through their Healthy Weight Commit- ment Foundation.
Way to go Michelle! We see you!

President Obama Chooses Supreme Court Nominee
The President announced Wednesday, Merrick Gar- land as his nominee for the Supreme Court in the Rose Garden at the White House.
This is a responsibility I do not take lightly. In considering several candidates, I held each to three principles that reflect the role the Supreme Court plays in our democracy.
First, a Justice should pos- sess an independent mind, unimpeachable credentials, and an unquestionable mastery of law. There is no doubt this person will face complex legal questions, so it is imperative that he or she possess a rigor- ous intellect that will help pro- vide clear answers.
Second, a Justice should rec- ognize the limits of the judi- ciary’s role. With a commitment to impartial jus- tice rather than any particular ideology, the next Supreme Court Justice will understand that the job is to interpret the law, not make law.
However, I know there will be cases before the Supreme Court in which the law is not clear. In those cases, a Justice’s analysis will necessarily be shaped by his or her own per- spective, ethics, and judgment.
Therefore, the third quality I looked for in a judge is a keen understanding that justice is not about abstract legal theory, nor some footnote in a dusty casebook. It’s the kind of life experience earned outside the

classroom and the courtroom; experience that suggests he or she views the law not only as an intellectual exercise, but also grasps the way it affects the daily reality of people’s lives in a big, complicated democracy, and in rapidly-changing times. In my view, that’s an essential element for arriving at just de- cisions and fair outcomes.
I’m confident you’ll share my conviction that this American is not only eminently qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice, but deserves a fair hearing, and an up-or-down vote.
In putting forward a nomi- nee today, I am fulfilling my constitutional duty. I’m doing my job. I hope that our Sena- tors will do their jobs, and move quickly to consider my nominee. That is what the Con- stitution dictates, and that’s what the American people ex- pect and deserve from their leaders.

Clinton Campaign Takes Nothing For Granted In Florida
President Obama Chooses Kansas To Win It All In Tournament
WASHINGTON -- Presi- dent Barack Obama picked Kansas to win the NCAA title, with the hopes of correctly se- lecting college basketball's na- tional champion in the first and last years of his presi- dency.
Pres. Obama will leave of- fice in January 2017. He cor- rectly picked North Carolina in his first year in office in 2009,
but he hasn't selected the win- ner in the past six brackets.
Pres. Obama also picked the Jayhawks to knock off Texas A&M and the Tar Heels to beat Michigan State in the Final Four before meeting in the final April 4 in Houston.
This is the third time he has picked Kansas to win the title; he also selected the Jayhawks in 2010 and 2011.
Vincent Evans, Chelsea Clinton and famed civil rights attorney Ben Crump listen to Cump’s partner at- torney Daryl Parks reminisce about meeting Former Presi- dent Clinton When he was FAMU Student Body Presi- dent.
Former President Bill Clin- ton makes his fourth appear- ance at FAMU since 1992. Thousands of Rattlers wel- comed the President who praised the college of love and charity for its status as the #1 HBCU for research.
A few days before the Florida Primary, Chelsea Clinton was campaigning hard in Jacksonville. The next day she was on to Tallahassee where she spoke to 300 women at the Women’s Club, before heading to Early’s
Kitchen on the Southside. The African American favorite was packed with patrons and the famous supporting Hillary Clinton for President.
Chelsea Clinton, pregnant with her second child, sat on a stool talking with ease about her mother’s hopes for the na- tion. She also discussed the need to beat back the hate speech enveloping the Repub- lican campaign.
Chelsea then took her cam- paign on to Sarasota, St. Pe- tersburg and Orlando.
Meanwhile the day before the Super Tuesday election, her father, former President Bill Clinton held a rally at Florida A&M University. Thou-
sands of students from Rattler Nation turned out to hear from the former president. Clinton talked about his wife’s vision of “Ladders of opportunity for everyone not walls.” One plan is to allow student loans to be paid off over longer periods of time like a mortgage. Another interesting concept would en- courage insurance companies to lower premiums for good health habits. Former Pres. Clinton has a strong relation- ship with FAMU having spo- ken at graduation and campaigned on campus two times since 1992. Confirming that the Clintons took noth- ing for granted and that Florida was at the top of the must have victories.
Hillary Clinton Versus Donald Trump: The Battle Ahead
Hillary Clinton greets supporters on Tuesday night in West Palm Beach, Florida, after prevailing in the Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina Democratic primaries. There is a growing belief among Republicans in Washington that Clinton and Donald Trump are unstoppable and that, come November, this will spell disaster for the G.O.P.
