Homeowners Just Want Lennar Homes Co. To Repair Their New Home
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Nearly two years ago, a Tampa couple purchased what was to be their dream home. Once they moved into the home in December 2014, they realized that several areas needed to be repaired.
This was not only the first new home that Anrio and Johne Charles purchased, but it was the first home they purchased. Charles, 42, said he immediately contacted Lennar Homes, who con- structed the home when he discovered things that needed to be repaired.
The couple purchased the 4-bedroom, 3-bath, structure located in Sun City Center, for $209,000.
“I asked them to make the repairs and they told me the guy working for the company told me that they would. But I didn’t get it in writing,” Charles said.
Charles said he didn’t give up, he continued to call the company, but to no avail. He also said that he sent 3 certified letters asking them to make the repairs. One of the letters was accepted.
But Charles didn’t stop there. Before the first year had passed of trying to get the company to make the repairs, he hired a certified home in- spector and paid for the $400 inspection. Charles said he sent the company a copy of

the inspector’s report outlin- ing the problems, some of which were listed as “haz- ardous.”
Charles said on most oc- casions when he called the company, he got a recorded message. But one day he called and actually talked to a person.
“Finally, I spoke with someone who told me that the man who I had spoken to and who said the repairs would be made, no longer worked for the company. They also told me that it was cosmetic and
the company was not respon- sible for it,” Charles said.
Charles said he has con- sulted an attorney and was told that because he didn’t have anything in writing, he would need to take the com- pany to civil court.
But Charles said he is not interested in filing a lawsuit. “I just want people to know what I’ve been going through. I just want my home repaired like they said they would do.”
Telephone calls to Lennar Homes from the Sentinel were not returned.

On Tuesday, Florida was one of five states holding elec- tions for the Presidential Pref- erence Primary Election.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Supervisor of Elections Office, there are 561,855 registered voters in the county. Of that number, a total of 42.82% or 240,559 voters cast ballots during the Presi- dential Preference Primary Election.
Craig Latimer, Hillsbor- ough County Supervisor of Elections said of the turnout, “There was a tremendous amount of awareness around this election. When you com- pare this election to 2008 (the last time we had a Presidential Preference Primary for both major parties), the turnout was similar, but this time many more people voted before Elec- tion Day.
“In fact, we sent out over 100,000 more Vote By Mail ballots than we did in 2008, so
DONALD TRUMP
voters clearly are moving to- wards the convenience of vot- ing by mail.”
