Tom Brady Says He Has 'No Excuses' For Not Beating Broncos' Pressure
TOM BRADY
DENVER -- New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady described Sundays 20- 18 loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game as "an uphill battle all day." He absorbed 23 hits while facing a barrage of pressure reminiscent of past Super Bowl losses to the New York Giants.
"When you play quarterback, you're going to take hits. You have to stand in there and make throws. There are no excuses for me for not getting the job done," Brady said. "Our guys fought hard. I'm proud of all the guys for what they tried to accomplish. We just came up one play short to a very good football team."
Brady spared his offensive line by saying "they hung in there all day" while noting the strength of the Broncos is their defensive front. He relayed that the Patriots' plan was to get the ball to their skill-position play- ers, in hopes that they could make some plays in space.
"It's a tough front with good players," he said. "They're tee- ing off on the cadence. We're trying to keep changing it up. They did a great job of it."

Improve Fitness To Play Up-Tempo
CLEVELAND -- Following Tyronn Lue's first game as Cleveland Cavaliers head coach, a 96-83 loss to the Chicago Bulls, Lue held true to his promise to hold his play- ers accountable, telling re- porters the Cavs are not well conditioned enough to play up-tempo basketball.
"I don't think we're in good enough shape," Lue said. "I think early, we wanted to push it, we wanted to open the floor, and I think we came out and did that, and then I think we just dropped off the map. I think we got tired."
Lue noted that his players, including LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, "wanted to come out early." Not only did having his players ask for early substitu- tions throw off Lue's planned rotation patterns, the Cavs' collective conditioning led to

poor results on the offensive end when they sped up the game.
Cleveland shot just 35-for- 94 as a team (37.2 percent) and an even more anemic 4- for-24 from 3 (16.7 percent).
"I just don't think we're in good enough shape right now to play in the style that we want to play," he said.
Florida State Agrees To Pay Winston Accuser $950,000 To Settle Suit
JAMEIS WINSTON
Florida State has settled a federal Title IX lawsuit with Erica Kinsman, a former student who said she was raped by quarterback Jameis Winston in 2012.
The settlement was an- nounced on Monday, more than a year after she initially filed the complaint in federal court.
FSU agreed to pay Kins- man $950,000 – an amount that includes $700,000 in at- torney’s fees – as well as make a five-year commitment to awareness, prevention and training programs. The lump sum is the largest settlement for Title IX claims regarding indifference to a student’s re- ported sexual assault.

FSU did not admit to liabil- ity in the settlement, which university president John Thrasher said the school agreed to in order to avoid ad- ditional litigation expenses.
The settlement does not af- fect an ongoing Title IX inves- tigation by the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. Kinsman filed a com- plaint with the agency in early 2014 and it opened an investi- gation in April of that year.
Kinsman - who is set to graduate from another four- year university this spring - sued him in April, and Winston countersued. That case is pending in U. S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
