Secret To A Good Night’s Rest
If you’re having trouble sleeping, have a glass of iced lemon balm tea. Lemon Balm contains compounds that help you drink off within 30 min- utues after the first sip.
Stay Hydrated
If you get dizzy, fatigued or foggy-headed after spending time outside, reverse your symptoms by drinking spark- ing mineral water.
Why It Works: Mineral water’s calcium and bicarbon- ate helps your body recover faster from dehydration than plain water by rebalancing pH levels thrown off when you’re low on fluids.
Tip: Holding a chilled water bottle in each hand while walking on a hot, summer day will help to prevent overheat- ing and fatigue. Chilled blood from your palms circulates to the rest of your body, keeping you cool from the outside in.
Bye-Bye Mosquitoes
Summertime is here and so are the pesky mosquitoes. If you don’t want to use those greasy, chemical-filled repel- lents, try this.
Dab one a few drops of lemongrass essential oil to repel mosquitoes for hours.
Why It Works: The citrus scent of lemongrass is pleasing to most folks; however it smells awful to mosquitoes.
Tip: If you get more mos- quito bites than anyone else around you it’s because your skin contains a unique mix of microbes that emit a scent that mosquitoes love. By covering your natural scent with a strong citrusy smell like or- anges or grapefruit, this will send those pesky mosquitoes away.
5 Self-Care Tips For Men
Let’s tell it like it is: Men don’t always take care of themselves the way they should – and we can prove it.
According to a study, men were more likely to put their health on the back-burner and less likely to see a doctor even when they do experi- ence symptoms out of the or- dinary.
Here are five ways you can begin taking better control of yourself for your health starting today
1. Embrace color.
Fruits and vegetables do more than just add color to your plate. They bring a whole lot of flavonoids, an- tioxidants and vitamins to the table – great for your overall health
2. Don’t skip the floss.
No matter how tired you are, never skip the floss. Not only does it remove bacteria and plaque from your teeth, it also reduces your risk of gum disease and heart disease. If you don’t know, now you know
3. Get into yoga. Hear me out before you swear off this ancient practice. Yoga is for all races and certainly all genders. Sure, some of the poses, such as downward facing dog and half moon may seem a little funny at first, but the health benefits will make you forget all about how silly you feel. Yoga relives stress, lowers blood pressure, builds mus- cle strength, and increases blood flow and flexibility
4. Talk it out. One of the main differences between men and women is that women will talk openly about their problems, whereas men don’t. I’m not saying you have to pour your heart out, but confiding in one or two close buddies about what’s troubling you from time to time can help reduce stress and slow down the aging process. And who wouldn’t want that
5. Have sex – and lots of it. This one shouldn’t take much convincing, but sex provides stress relief while improving your cardiovascu- lar health and lowering your risk of prostate cancer. Still not convinced? According to a study published in the British Medical Journal, men who had more orgasms lowered their risk of death by 50 percent.
