When Michael An- thony Hip’pard decided he would step away from corporate America, he knew what he’d do – follow the dream of his second passion – cooking. And, he also knew that whatever he’d do, he’d honor God and his mother, Mrs. Ruth Hip’pard.
On Saturday, May 16, 2015, the grand opening will be held for his restaurant, “My Mamma’s Bar-B-Q”, lo- cated in Riverview. Festivi- ties are set to kick off at 11:30 A. M. The restaurant is located inside the Riverview Flea Market, 7415 US High- way S. 301.
The restaurant has been in the works since 2010. It took 5 years for him to get it where he wanted it.
Describing himself as a “small businessman and owner,” Hip’-pard is a Tampa native. He spent 19 years in the insurance indus- try and had several other ventures, including a trans- portation business, currently operated by his son, Michael, II. However, “Mamma’s Bar-B-Q” is his first restaurant venture.
Having participated in several bar-be-cue events, Hip’pard has earned #1 and #2 on his sauce, #7 on ribs and #8 on pulled pork. The events were sponsored by Kansas City B-B-Q Soci- ety and Publix for Pit Mas- ters Bar-B-Q.
After competing in many events, Hip’pard decided to introduce the world to his gourmet-style bar-b-que sauce inspired by his mother. The sauce comes in flavors of mild, hot and extra

hot. The bottled sauce has been approved by the FDA. The ‘Fresh Florida’ symbol is on the bottle. “I want others to experience the taste my family has enjoyed for years,” he says. The sauce, he explains, is not just for one type of meat. “You can use this one gourmet sauce on all types of meat,” he said.
Ultimately, his goal is for the sauce to reach the shelves of retail chain stores. He’s proud to say, he has had some inquiries.
Hip’pard quickly adds that he has not been on this venture alone. His wife, Angel, and children have joined him.
Hip’pard majored in Religion at Liberty Univer- sity. Spiritually, he is a mem- ber of The Lord’s House Ministry, started by Bishop Joseph Lee, currently under the leadership of Elder Torrell Lee, pastor.

Students generally ask questions related to athletics, curriculum, technology, and testing.
JEFFREY LAMAR WADE .....killed in accident
Police said Wade was ejected from his truck during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Wade was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and that omission contributed to his death. Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, police said, and they are awaiting a toxicology report.
Student Forum
Temple Terrace Police de- tectives are investigating to see if alcohol was a factor in an accident that claimed the lives of a child and a man.
At 9:12 p. m. Saturday, Temple Terrace police re- sponded to a crash at 56th Street and Riverhills Drive.
The preliminary investiga- tion indicates a truck driven by Jeffrey Lamar Wade, 49, was traveling south on 56th Street when it struck a Nissan Maxima driven by Lakena L. James, who was turning west onto Riverhills Drive from 56th Street.
James had four children in the car with her at the time of the accident, one of them 7- year-old Desiree Gilley. She was unconscious at the scene and transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The district currently offers free after-school meals to stu- dents who attend the extended day program at Baycrest, Bel- lamy, B. T. Washington, Just, Knights, Morgan Woods, Pot- ter, Robinson, Sulphur Springs, and Town & Country Elementary Schools; and Van Buren and Webb Middle Schools.
Student Nutrition Services staff will prepare the meals at each school and students will be served in the cafeteria.
Each after-school meal will consist of a hot entree, fruit, vegetable, and milk.
These 18 schools are eligi- ble because at least half of the children qualify for free and reduced priced meals, and the schools provide after-school academic and enrichment ac- tivities.
Meals will be provided only to students attending the ex- tended day program at the participating schools. Parents do not have to complete an ap- plication for this new meal program.
Funding for the meals is provided by the federal Child Care Food Program.
