BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
When the time came for Marvin A. Bell to render a recommendation for 2 of the instructors at his school, it was not difficult for him to put words on paper.
Bell is the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs at Chamberlain High School. The Principal is Ms. Celeste Liccio.
Last Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Dou- bleTree by Hilton, 2 instructors at Chamberlain, Ms. LaKeisha Renee Sayles and Brandon G. Henry were selected at the Inclusionary Team of the Year by the Council for Exceptional Children, Tampa Bay Chapter #194.
Bell recommended the team for the award mainly because of “how well they work with our students, faculty and staff...” As an administrator at the
school, Bell has had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the pair.
He wrote in his recommendation, “Mr. Henry and Ms. Sayles con- tributed to developing and implement- ing a co-teaching demonstration classroom to showcase exemplary co- teaching...They have the best co-teach- ing model I have seen in years.”
As a matter of fact, their model of co-teaching was presented during New Teacher Orientation, and during Sec- ondary Professional Study Day. Several teachers from various schools have also viewed the co-teach model at Chamber- lain.
Ms. Sayles is the Exceptional Stu- dent Education (ESE) teacher, while Henry is the regular education teacher. The two recently completed the Clinical Educator training which allows them to work with college interns seeking to ful- fill their shadowing requirements.
A native of Oakland, CA, Ms. Sayles was raised in In- dianapolis, IN. She grad- uated from Alabama State Univer- sity with a B. S. degree in Social Sci- ence Educa-

The single mother of 3 has 18 years of teaching experience and has been in the Hillsborough County School District for 13 years. She’s a member of Bible-
Based Fellowship Church of Carroll- wood.
A native of Albany, GA, Henry, valedictorian of his high school, studied at Albany State University. His high ac- ademic achievements and leadership skills were on display even then.
Coming to Tampa in 2005 to pursue his graduate education at the University of South Florida, Henry received his master’s degree in Biochemical Engi- neering in 2007. And, he completed a graduate certificate program in medical devices.
Currently, a Chemistry and Physical Science teacher at Chamberlain, Henry is also an associate faculty member at University of Phoenix (West Florida local campus).
Henry is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and in his spare time likes to attend theme parks, go bowling and spend time with family and friends.
“Not only are they excellent instruc- tors, they dedicate countless hours to our neediest students outside of the classroom,” Bell wrote. Ms. Sayles is the sponsor for TRIBE, a mentoring organization for at-risk students, and head coach of the Chamberlain Track Team. Henry is the advisor of the Na- tional Honor Society and sponsor of the Junior Class.
Outside the campus, both are tutors at the Srpinghill Community Center in Sulphur Springs.
