Nyle DiMarco, recent winner of Dancing With the Stars and winner of last year’s “America’s Next Top Model,” will share his inspi- rational story as a model, actor and activist at the first student- run University Lecture Series of the 2016-17 academic year.
DiMarco will appear at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 (doors open at 7:30 p.m.) in the Marshall Student Center’s Oval Theater. A meet and greet will be held following the lecture.
Born into a multigenera- tional deaf family, DiMarco graduated with a degree in mathematics from Gallaudet University, the world’s only university for the deaf, before being discovered on social media. Motivated by the po- tential platform to raise aware- ness for the deaf community, DiMarco pursued a career as an actor and model.
Making his film debut in 2013, he has since appeared on ABC Family’s “Switched At Birth” and will guest star in Hulu’s “Difficult People” this season. In 2015, he be- came the first deaf contestant and second male winner in the
NYLE DIMARCO
history of “America’s Next Top Model.”
As an ambassador for the deaf community, he launched the Nyle DiMarco Founda- tion in 2015 with the mission of empowering and improving the lives of deaf children glob- ally. He also serves as an hon- orary spokesman for the Language Equality and Acqui- sition for Deaf Kids organiza- tion.
The lecture is free and open to the public on a limited first- come, first-served basis follow- ing priority seating for USF students.
