Mother Arrested After Infant Left Alone In Car
On Thursday, police ar- rested a 21-year-old Riverview woman and charged her with child neglect and possession of cannabis. She was arrested after her infant son was discov- ered in a parked car alone.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, University Square Mall Secu- rity discovered a 1-year-old male infant unattended in a parked car. Security notified police and said the child was seated, but was not injured.

attended for about 40 minutes.
They also said there was the aroma of marijuana. During a search of the vehicle, police found a small quantity of mar- ijuana.
The woman driving the ve- hicle was identified as Jas- mine Emani Jones, of Riverview. She was arrested and the child was placed into the custody of Child Protective Services until arrangements could be made to place him with a family member.
Ms. Jones was released from the Hillsborough County Jail after posting a $2,500 bond.

On the second Friday of the new year, some individuals will have an opportunity to have their suspended driver’s li- cense reinstated. However, pre-registration is required.
It will take place on Fri- day, January 8, 2016, at the George Edgecomb Courthouse, 800 E. Twiggs Street. The rein- statements are being done on a first come, first serve basis. Those interested must pre-register between December 7th and Decem- ber 28th.
Those individuals who qualify may have their driver’s license reinstated and the fees reduced. The determination of eligibility will be conducted through a judicial hearing. In- dividuals with suspensions for the following violations may pre-register for the Hillsbor- ough County Driver’s License Reinstatement Day.
The offenses are: No Valid Driver’s License, Collections, Failure to Appear, Outstanding Civil Traffic Citations, and Tickets issued in Hillsborough County only.
Some individuals whose li- cense have been suspended will not qualify for the pro- gram. They are those whose li- cense have been suspended for
Child Support, DUI, Habitual Traffic Offender Revocations, Felony Involved Traffic Of- fenses, and Suspensions Out- side of Hillsborough County.
The Department of Motor Vehicles will be on site to issue Driver’s License. Proof of iden- tification is required for the is- suance of the licenses.
Mark Cox, spokesman for the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office said, “This is truly a group effort. It is a col- laborative effort involving the 13th Judicial Court, Law En- forcement, the office of State Representative Dana Young, the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, the Hillsbor- ough County Public Defender’s Office, the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles, and the Clerk of Circuit Court.
“It has been done in other places in Florida, but this is our first time. We prosecute hundreds of driver’s license of- fenses each week, and this is a good opportunity for those people who quality to take ad- vantage of this opportunity,” Cox said.

Fire Chief Named As Guest Speaker For Bay Area Brotherhood MLK Banquet
For the past 42 years, the Bay Area Brotherhood (BAB) has held a banquet in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The organization has been honoring Dr. King’s life longer than any other organi- zation in the Tampa commu- nity.
The 43rd Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet hosted by BAB will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Surf’s Edge Club, MacDill Air Force Base.

Thomas E. (Tom) Forward
has been announced as the guest speaker for the 5:30 p. m. event.
Fire Chief Forward has been employed with Tampa Fire Rescue since October 1983. He has worked his way up the ladder obtaining nu- merous positions, from the Hazardous Team to Driver-En- gineer, Paramedic, to Captain and now Fire Chief. As the Asst. Chief of Administration, Chief Forward managed a budget of over $50 million. He has been the City of Tampa’s Emergency Manager since 2008.
