Missouri's head coach has backed his players after they announced a boycott of all foot- ball-related activities until their university president resigns in the midst of a racism crisis on campus.
At least 32 members of the Mizzou Tigers football team, including starting running back Russell Hansbrough, re- leased a statement through Twitter on Saturday night say- ing they would not participate until Tim Wolfe quits 'due to his negligence towards margin- alized students'.
On Sunday Head coach Gary Pinkel posted on social media that he supported his players’ decision not to play while Mis- souri Governor Jay Nixon said senior staff at the univer- sity need to address 'racism and intolerance' on campus.
The team has joined campus groups who have been protest- ing the way Wolfe has dealt with issues of racial harass- ment during the school year.
They include two acts of van- dalism, where swastikas were drawn inside college dormito- ries - one of them was report- edly smeared with human feces.
Student groups have been critical over how Wolfe has handled issues of race and dis- crimination, and blocked his car at homecoming in an at- tempt to speak with him.
They have complained that the use of racial slurs is preva- lent. In April, a swastika was found in a Missouri dormitory.
Bradley M. Becker was charged with second-degree property damage motivated by discrimination after the van- dalism at the Mark Twain Res- idence Hall.
He pleaded guilty and was handed a 90-day suspended prison sentence.
A swastika was burned into the ceiling of a stairwell twice in April and someone once wrote 'You have been warned.'
Officials said last month they were investigating another act of vandalism that targeted minorities.
On October 24, someone is believed to have smeared the shape of the Nazi symbol in human feces in a residence hall.
Today, Wolfe announced his decision during a Board of Cu- rators meeting on the Uni- veristy of Missouri-Columbia campus on Monday.
“I’m resigning as president of the University of Missouri System,” Wolfe said while reading a statement. “My moti- vation in making this decision comes from love. I love MU, Columbia where I grew up, the state of Missouri. I thought, prayed about this decision. It’s the right thing to do.”
DEREK FISHER
NEW YORK -- Derek Fisher had a few choice words for ref- eree Marc Davis on Sunday, Davis says.
In disagreeing with Davis on a third-quarter foul call on Kristaps Porzingis, the New York Knicks coach used some colorful language, which led to an ejection.
“As I was walking toward the 28-foot mark, Derek Fisher screamed, "F--- no.'' And then as I took one more step to report the foul, he said, "That's f-----g horrible,” Davis told a pool re- porter after the Knicks’ win over the Los Angeles Lakers. “I tried to divert to go to half court to see if I could give him a chance to settle down, at which point he starts screaming and clapping in my face, 'That's horrible.' He was assessed the first technical. After the first technical foul, he said again, 'That's f-----g horri- ble.' Then he got the second technical foul and was ejected."
It was Fisher’s first ejection as Knicks coach. Kurt Rambis took over in the third quarter of the Knicks’ 99-95 win.
Dwyane Wade Passes Scottie Pippen On NBA’s All-Time Scoring List
DWYANE WADE
Miami cruised past Toronto at home on Sunday, 96-76 (as they so often do when visiting teams have the opportunity hit South Beach on Saturday night) and in the process, Dwyane Wade passed Hall of Fame for- ward Scottie Pippen on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
With a three-pointer in the third quarter, Wade moved into 51st place in career points. Wade finished with 12 points vs. the Raptors.
Heat's Gerald Green Reportedly Released From Hospital
Foul Language Toward Ref Gets Him Ejected
Miami Heat reserve guard Gerald Green was released from the hospital Saturday after a four-day stay for an undisclosed reason.
Green was taken to the hos- pital Wednesday after an inci- dent outside his condo building. According to a 911 call obtained by TMZ, the caller said Green had passed out and was bleeding in the valet area outside the condo.
TMZ also reported that mul- tiple witnesses said Green was acting strangely in the lobby of the condo -- scream- ing at the top of his lungs -- and that it took several people, including emergency person- nel, to restrain Green and get him on a stretcher and into an ambulance.
The Miami Herald reported that Green was not arrested, according to Miami police, but that Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue requested assistance

because of a "combative pa- tient" at the address where Green lives.
Miami guard Mario Chalmers accompanied Green to the hospital on Wednesday, but team officials have declined to offer any specifics regarding his stay there other than to say he "is safe and is healthy."
