Alumni Association To Host 2016 Future Miss B-CU Coronation
X’ZARIA BULLARD
The late Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune once said, “I leave you a responsibility to our young people.” And, in keeping with this legacy, mem- bers of the Bethune-Cookman College Alumni Association have accepted the challenge.
On Sunday, October 4th, at p.m., the Hillsborough County Chapter of Bethune Cookman- University National Alumni Association will host its 34th Annual fundraiser, the “Fu- ture Miss B-CU” Corona- tion. The event will take at the College Hill Conference Cen- ter, 1002 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard.
The event culminates the fundraising efforts for the in- stitution. It also honors the founder, Dr. McLeod Bethune.
The contestants for the event this year are: Lady X’Zaria Bullard, Lady Mir- acle Marshall, and Lady Rhema Sims. The three con- testants will be presented to the community during the gala affair.
Lady X’Zaria Bullard is the daughter of Ms. Eureka Thompkins and is a 9th grade student at Jefferson High School. The young lady is a member of the KAPS Program, the Student Government Asso- ciation, and a member of the National Junior Honor Soci-

She also divides her time
with extracurricular activities including cheering for the Brandon All-Stars, participat- ing in various community serv- ice events such as the Michael Brown “Black Lives Matter,” rally, tutoring, volunteering at the local hospitals, and helping to provide a safe haven for the children through the local recreational centers.
She plans to continue her education and become a Child Psychologist.
Lady Miracle Marshall
is the fourteen-year-old daugh- ter of Ms. LaTasha Davis and Michael Marshall. She attends Tampa Bay Technical High School, where she is a member of the 9th grade class.
This young lady is an active and dedicated student, a mem- ber of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), and a member of NJROTC (Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps).
A family-oriented young Lady Marshall is an out- standing leader and has re- ceived many awards and honors which include a Certifi- cate of Participation and a Cer- tificate of Achievement.
She loves helping others and her career goal is to be- come a Nurse.
Lady Sims is a 10th grade
RHEMA SIMS
student at Middleton High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome (San- dra) Sims, Jr., and the late Ingrett Tina Marie Sims.
At 15-years-old, this young lady has her already sights set on becoming a Choreographer and Physical Therapist, which ties into her habits of always singing and dancing.
Lady Sims loves spending time with her family, friends, and church members at North- side Church of Christ, where she is very active.
She is a member of Jackson Heights Vikings Cheer and Step, a member of Future Busi- ness Leaders of America, and a member of BNB Super Stars.
Her hobbies include writ- ing, singing, dancing, softball, cheering, and stepping. She loves all sports and especially enjoys watching football with her dad.
This year, Ms. Jacque- line D. Grant and Ms. Gina Petty Sanders are serving as the Coronation Chairpersons. The public is invited and en- couraged to attend this free event.
The local Alumni Chapter meets the third Thursday of each month at the Seminole Heights Library, 4711 N. Cen- tral Avenue, at 7 p.m. Andra Diggs is the Chapter Presi- dent.
