Tampa Chapter Of The Links, Inc. To Host Estate Planning Zoom Seminar
BY MONIQUE STAMPS Sentinel Staff Writer
On Saturday, January 23, 2021, the Tampa (FL) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated will partner with Thomas Finan- cial to host an Estate Planning Zoom seminar. The Tampa Chapter is focusing on raising knowledge of estate planning, financial independence, and helping the community learn more about their assets.
Studies have shown that African Americans are more likely to lose property that was willed to them than whites. Estate planning and wills can ensure that assets are be- queathed as desired and less likely to be taken by banks or other institutions. Knowledge is key to keeping property.
According to the Brook- ings Institute “Gaps in wealth between Black and white households reveal the effects of accumulated inequality and discrimination, as well as dif- ferences in power and oppor- tunity that can be traced back to this nation’s inception. The Black-white wealth gap re- flects a society that has not and does not afford equality of opportunity to all its citizens.”

We want to make sure that our assets are dis- tributed in the manner that
we want.”
