BOYD
MRS. HATTIE MAE MIMS
Funeral service for Mrs. Hattie Mae Mims is Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:00 a. m. at James C. Boyd Funeral Home in Fort Myers.
On Friday morning, Sep- tember 2, 2022, our family’s loving Prayer Warrior, went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
On August 23, 1923, George and Bessie Woods were blessed with a daughter, who they named Hattie Mae Woods. Hattie attended school in Leary, Georgia. She moved to Albany where she met the love of her life, Morris Mims. Morris and Hattie were blessed with five beautiful children, whom she loved and cherished.
Hattie relocated to Fort Myers, Florida in 1966. Hattie worked for Gulf Coast Center, also known as Sunniland, with the State of Florida Human Services Program as a Super- visor for twenty years. After her retirement, she went on to share her love for family and friends by caring for their chil- dren in her home.
Hattie attended the Church of God Pentecostal Way for fifty years, faithfully, under the leadership of Pastor Walter McCray Thomas. Her devotion and dedication to her God and her Church where she served was honored, and the Ushers welcomed her every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and ushered her to her “special seat” they re- served for her. She dearly loved her church family, and each one of you mattered to her.
Hattie loved to cook for her family and friends. When she wasn’t cooking, she was watching her favorite televi- sion show, Walker, Texas Ranger. She raised her grand- son, Marvin Mims, Jr. (de- ceased). She also helped raise her grandson, Carsi Bellamy, Sr., great-grandson, Carsi Bel- lamy, Jr., and great-grand- daughter, CaShari Bellamy.
She was surrounded and cherished by her loved ones in her golden years. Carsi, Sr. and great-grandson, Carsi, Jr. who cared for her, as well as her granddaughter, Jacque- line Gray and cousin, Crystal
Herring, who also cared for her.
Hattie relocated to Dallas, Texas, to be with her daughter, Constance “Connie” Knight, where she was loved and cher- ished until her Father called her home.
Hattie was preceded in death by: her husband, Morris Mims, Sr.; parents, George and Bessie Woods; her brother, Raymond Salmon; sisters, Car- rie Willis and Coretha Good- man; son, Marvin Mims, Sr.; daughter, Eva Jean Bellamy; and grandson, Marvin Mims, Jr., (a.k.a. JuneBug).
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her children, Constance (Connie) Knight of Dallas, Texas and Morris Mims of Valdosta, GA; 11 grandchil- dren, Debra Mims of Washing- ton, D. C., Deion Sanders (Tracey) of Canton, Texas, Dor- cas Knight of Fort Myers, FL, Jacqueline Gray (Clyde) of Lehigh Acres, FL, Ursula Wil- son (Stanley) of Tampa, FL, Carsi Bellamy, Sr., of Fort Myers, FL, Ellery Mims of Fort Myers, FL, Tracie Knight of Dallas, TX, Aundrey Jones of Dallas, TX, Heaven and Nevaeh Hales of Dallas, TX; 18 great- grandchildren, Megan An- dargie (Henock) of Tacoma Park, MD, Nigel Pierce of Washington, D. Hattie touched so many lives and she loved and cared for each of you! She never sought any praise and never wanted to be lifted up, but would always rather you lift up her God and her shepherd, Jesus.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and her walk with her God is now on a higher level. The Pearly White City is now her home and Heaven’s choir has gained a beautiful Angel.
Although her family and friends will miss her, we find comfort in knowing she heard God’s sweet voice saying, “Well done my good and faithful ser- vant, WELL DONE.”
