President Biden Celebrated Climate, Health And Tax Bill As 'Major Win' For Middle-Class Families
Buckingham Palace did not invite President Joe Biden to assemble a delegation to at- tend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II next week, and instead extended a specific invi- tation for only the President and first lady, a White House official told CNN.
The White House announced
Sunday that Biden had for- mally accepted the invitation and would be accompanied by the first lady.
Previous state funerals, such as the one for former South African president Nelson Mandela, have allowed for the sitting president to bring a del- egation of officials to the event.
President Joe Biden on Tuesday touted the Inflation Re- duction Act of 2022, designed to combat climate change, address health care costs and raise taxes on large corporations, as one of the most consequential bills in U. S. history.
The president celebrated the legislation as a "major win" for middle-class families over rich special interests, according to a White House official. He will claim the bill lowers costs for families and takes an aggressive approach in addressing the ad- ministration's climate concerns.
Biden called out Republi- cans for their opposition to the legislation, the White House of- ficial said. He plans to criticize GOP lawmakers for their unani- mous decision to not support the bill that the administration says will reduce costs for the Ameri- can people.
Additionally, he slammed congressional Republicans for opposing both a $35 insulin cap and the hiring of 87,000 Inter- nal Revenue Service agents. Sen- ate Republicans managed to block the provision on the in- sulin cap.
Justice Dept. Issues 40 Subpoenas In A Week, Expanding Its Jan. 6 Inquiry
  PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN
WASHINGTON - The U. S. Justice Department has issued
about 40 subpoenas over the past week seeking information about efforts by former Presi- dent Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 elec- tion, the New York Times re- ported on Monday.
Boris Epshteyn, a long- time Trump adviser, and Mike Roman, a campaign strategist for Trump, had their phones seized last week as evi- dence, the Times said, citing people familiar with the situa- tion.
Dan Scavino, Trump's
former social media director, was also among those who were subpoenaed, according to the paper, which said the group in- cluded low-level aides as well as senior advisers.
