  After A Few Glitches :
Well-Known Bar-B-Que Restaurant Triumphs With Food Truck
BY MONIQUE STAMPS Sentinel Staff Writer
In February 2022, the Bar-B-Que King owners learned that their current lo- cation had been leased by its owner to a company out of Ohio and would be totally changed. Sisters Tiffany Powell and Amelia ‘Kiki’ Howard were concerned about the possibility of being displaced from their long- time location. However, the new proprietors’ plans in- cluded their business. The sisters realized that they would be out of business for months during the transi- tion and made a decision to keep their legacy restaurant alive by setting up a food truck in the meantime.
In reality, it was much

tougher than they expected, according to Amelia.
“We must give a shout out to all the food trucks and trailers. We thought it would be easier than it is. In many ways, it can be harder to
have a food truck than a brick-and-mortar store.”
The sisters have major history to uphold. The legacy their great grandfa- ther, James Bloomfield, started over 70 years ago lives on today. The sisters’ grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Henry and mother, Judy Henry Can- dis followed their great grandfather in the business before them.
Amelia stated that after a few trials, the food truck is now up and running for good. The renovated restau- rant is still months away.
“Our customers can ex- pect their favorites - ribs, sausage, pulled pork. We have limited sides because of logistics, but we still have potato salad and coleslaw.”
The food truck is located near 2132 W, Main St. in the parking lot on the side of the green building
The food truck is open from Thursday through Sunday. The hours are noon to 8:00 p.m. or until the food is gone. Everything is made freshly each day as usual with the freshest in-
gredients possible.
“My sister, Tiffany, is
there running the food truck. She works so hard and really puts her heart into the business. It is a labor of love for us.”
