Kendrick Lamar Accepts His Pulitzer Award In Ceremony At Columbia University
Jamie Foxx Says He Has Had Bout With Mental Illness
Rapper Kendrick Lamar accepted his Pulizer Prize for music last Wednesday in a cer- emony at Columbia University.
Lamar, the first musician outside the classical and jazz genres to receive the honor, was cited for his album “DAMN.”
In making the presentation, Columbia President Lee Bollinger described Lamar’s fourth LP as a “virtuosic song collection unified by its vernac- ular authenticity that offers af- fecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African American life.”
Pulitzer winners do not make acceptance speeches, but in a Facebook Live video on the Pulitzer Prizes page, Lamar told Sree Sreenivasan, “I’ve been writing my whole life, so to

get this type of recognition ― it’s beautiful.”
Jamie Foxx, like Kanye West, has had to deal with mental issues, too. West con- firmed his bipolar disorder di- agnosis on his new album, Ye, which was released Friday morning.
When [Kanye] talked about the drugs, the mental drugs, “I’ve had an episode of that,” Jamie said in an exclu- sive interview recently.
“When [Kanye] was talking about the, ‘I went in for 2 pills, and the 7 pills [he received from the hospital],’ that’s real!”
Jamie, unlike Kanye, had a strong support system to hold him down during one manic episode.
“I was lucky enough to have people, like my sister, like my

family, to say yo, you can’t go out right now cuz you talking crazy,” Jamie shared.

Ice Cube Says He Is ‘Finishing
‘Friday After Next’ aired in theaters 16 years ago. And after much discussion and speculation, Ice Cube seems to be getting close to a finished screenplay for the final ‘Friday’ movie.
When questioned by a fan about the movie’s progress re- cently, Ice Cube replied sim- ply: ‘Finishing script.’ Those two words have managed to get a lot of people super enthu- siastic on Twitter.
It remains to be seen if Chris Tucker will indeed re- turn, from first 1995 comedy classic.
Friday saw rapper Ice Cube in his first comic role as Craig Jones and documented one day in the life of the teen and his friend Smokey (Chris Tucker).
Ice Cube is the creator, executive producer and star of the ‘Fri- day’ movies. He starred in the first ‘Friday’ movie with Chris Tucker who played Smokey.

The 2000s ‘Next Friday’ and 2002’s ‘Friday After Next’ followed the same format al- beit with higher stakes.
This past May, a video sur- faced appearing to show Ice Cube and Mike Epps on set
together.
Epps played Day-Day in
the franchise’s two sequels. It features the pair chatting and joking around on set, just as Craig and Day-Day did all those years ago.
Five days after Pusha-T dropped Drake diss track “The Story of Adidon,” things have remained quiet over at camp OVO de- spite calls for a Drake clap- back. Now, word comes that the beef has been halted tem- porarily (if not for good) thanks to Rap-A-Lot Records CEO, J. Prince.
In an interview on Satur- day, Prince admitted that he’d told Drake not to re- spond to Pusha T’s latest provocation.
“I spoke with Drake,” Prince said. “I made an OG call to Drake this morning, telling him, ‘I don’t want you to respond to this. We’re going to put this to bed.’” He continued, “We’re going to put this to bed because we can’t get into the pigpen with pigs. Because pigs turn into hogs and hogs get slaughtered.
”We ain’t work this hard to cheat ourselves,” he added. “So that’s the way that is.”
In another interview,
Prince called Pusha’s track “disrespectful,” referencing his own book, The Art & Science of Respect.
He said, “it’s one thing for me and you to be in a situation and it’s another thing for you to take it out on my momma or my dad. So I have a problem.” Prince is considered to be a mentor to Drake after his son, Jas discovered the Toronto rapper via MySpace. This led to Drake meeting Lil Wayne and the Cash Money Records team, and the rest is history.
Also calling for the beef to be squashed is Kanye West.
After observing his guy, Pusha-T and Drake go at each other with a week of ex- tremely personal revela- tions, West is calling for an end to the beefing.
“I’ve never been about beef, I’m about love. Lines were crossed and it’s not good for anyone so this is dead now,” Ye said via Twitter about the nasty dispute between the two rappers.
