A two-year-old child was injured during the execution of a search warrant. The inci- dent took place last Thursday in Lakeland.
According to the Lakeland Police Department, shortly after noon, the SWAT Team went to 1103 West 9th Street to execute a search warrant. After knocking on the door and announcing their pur- pose, an officer entered the home.
Police said the search warrant was considered “high-risk.” The target of the search warrant was De- shaundre Roseboro, 27, who is reportedly known to be armed and has a violent criminal history.
After entering the resi- dence, a member of the SWAT Team visibly cleared the room and failed to ob- serve anyone inside. How- ever, after a distraction device was activated, the offi- cer observed the child began walking toward the device as it activated.
The unidentified officer grabbed the child and took him outside. Later identified as Cameron Jones, the child was transported to

Lakeland Regional Health and then to Tampa General Hospital. Police said his mother, Carmesha Jones, had left him in the care of Willie Cohen, who was ar- rested at the scene.
The child is being treated for non-life threatening in- juries. Ms. Jones was re- united with her son at the hospital. Police said they be- lieve the child was behind one of the mattresses stand- ing against the wall in the room. The Department of Children and Families will conduct a joint investigation regarding the welfare of the child, police said.
During the search, police reportedly seized metham-

phetamines, Xanax, K2 (syn- thetic cannabis), crack co- caine, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun.
An officer also shot an ag- gressive pit bull while on the premises.
Willie Cohen and New- ton Al Harris, both 29, were arrested and charged with possession of ammuni- tion by a convicted felon. Cohen was previously con- victed on a burglary charge. Harris, reportedly a known and documented gang mem- ber, was previously convicted of murder and robbery with a firearm. He was released from prison June 27, 2015.
The investigation is con- tinuing.
