  The Royal Wedding
The Royal Wedding: In All It’s Black Splendor
 Meghan marries her prince.
The world watched as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said "I do" at Saint George's Chapel on May 19, 2018 and it was just as beautiful and epic as you'd expect from a royal wed- ding.
From the bride’s gorgeous dress, to Prince Harry's adoring looks at his bride, there were plenty of amazing memories made. It was a day of love and celebration.
What was more amazing was Prince Harry and his princess had so many incredible Black moments that brought cheers and tears from people of all colors throughout the world.
Meghan who is now the Duchess of Sussex tailored her wedding to represent her Black heritage, as well as respecting the British tradition. Markle, 36 paid homage to her husband’s family by wearing a tiara from the Queen’s personal collection. She chose the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau.
The elegance and pride of the now princess of Britain, was on display as she proudly had her mother by her side wearing her beautiful dreads, to former DJ and mega movie star, Idris Elba deejaying their first dance at the night reception. Prince Harry (who according to polls is the most popular Royal) and Meghan added more than a drop of Black flavor to their spe- cial day. Here are some highlights:
Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, a social worker and yoga instructor in Los Angeles rode with her daugh- ter from Windsor Castle.
The SERMON by Bishop Michael Curry was theolog- ically-charged and 15 minutes long. Quoting everyone from Martin Luther King, Jr., to controversial Catholic twentieth-century theologian Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Bishop Curry referenced African-American spirituals and black slavery in America. The sermon was a far cry from what might be seen as the “traditional,” aris- tocratic Anglican sermon you might expect from a royal wedding.
The sermon emphasized the power of love. Quoting the Biblical Book of Amos, Curry said:
Meghan’s mom was beam- ing with pride, proudly wear- ing her locs in a twist under a tam type hat adorned with her nose ring.
When love is the way -- un- selfish, sacrificial, redemp- tive, when love is the way. Then no child would go to bed hungry in this world ever again. When love is the way. We will let justice roll down like a mighty stream and righteousness like an ever flowing brook. When love is the way poverty will become history. When love is the way the earth will become a sanc- tuary. When love is the way we will lay down our swords and shields down by the river- side to study war no more. When love is the way there’s plenty good room, plenty good room for all of God’s children.
In the heartbreaking absence of her dad, who was re- covering from heart surgery, Prince Harry’s dad, Prince Charles got a chance to walk down the aisle, since he only fathered sons. How significant.
Cellist, Sheku Kanneh-Mason 19, performed 3 solos with the orchestra during the ceremony. The bride person- ally called him and asked him to play at the wedding. His talent was on display for the world to see.
The Kingdom Choir sang ‘Stand By Me’ during the ceremony. They are a Christian gospel group based in the South-East of England, and have been performing for 20 years, led by Karen Gibson. The choir also sang, ‘Amen’, and 2 other songs as the Royal couple walked outside as husband and wife.
The royal couple chose Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ as their first dance at the fun-filled, early-hours wedding bash hosted by Prince Harry’s dad, Prince Charles at the Frogmore House in Windsor Castle with 200+ guests.
The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex partied into the wee hours after their wedding ceremony with fireworks, a playlist of soul classics, from 1960s R&B to the dance hits of the 1980s with the DJ slot from former DJ and now movie and TV star Idris Elba.
The Royal couple decided to delay their honeymoon to attend to their Royal duties on Tuesday (today).
