University Area CDC Presents Free Family Movie Night: Hidden Figures
New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Recognizes 2017 Graduates
The Educational Ministry of the New Mt. Zion Mission- ary Baptist Church, Inc., under the leadership of Rev. Larry L. Roundtree, II, recognized their 2017 high school, technical and college graduates on Sunday, June 25th during the 11 a. m. serv- ice.

Monday, marked the start of Archives Awareness Week. The City of Tampa released the video, “130 Years,” high- lighting the city’s rich history leading up to the 130th birth- day of the City of Tampa on July 15th. “130 Years” was narrated by City of Tampa Clerk, Shirley Foxx-Knowles.

and Johnathan Mooney (LaVoy Exceptional).
The technical graduate was Ryan Clark (Brewster) and the college graduate was Kenza Thomas (Hillsbo- rough Community College).
The graduates received a handshake of congratula- tions from the pastor and love tokens from the mem- bership.
Magnet And School Choice Application Period Opens
University Area Commu- nity Development Corpora- tion (University Area CDC) presents Free Family Movie Night: Hidden Figures, on Friday, July 14th the doors open at 5:30 p. m., movie be- gins at 6 p. m.
The University Area CDC Community Center is located at 14013 N. 22nd St., Tampa, 33613.
The University Area Com- munity Development Corpo- ration will present a free screening of the critically ac- claimed film.
Hidden Figures tells the story of three brilliant African-American women at NASA — Katherine John- son (played by Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jack- son (Janelle Monáe) – who serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astro- naut John Glenn (played by Glen Powell) into orbit.
Drinks and popcorn will
be provided free of charge; additional food will be avail- able for purchase.
The University Area CDC Free Family Movie Night is a family-oriented event de- signed to provide a fun and safe activity for University Area residents, and at the same time inform them of the many services and program- ming from which they can benefit. Prizes will also be given away. Those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
This Free Family Movie Night is sponsored by Safe and Sound and the University Area CDC Community Out- reach Committee, whose mis- sion is to engage University Area residents through per- sonal outreach to increase awareness and participation in University Area CDC pro- gramming, events and serv- ices.

Bay’ Scheduled For
SKD Entertainment and
Derek “The Change Man” Smith present VOICES ACROSS THE BAY (VATB), a series of compilation albums that will feature singers from all around the globe, but pre- dominately from Florida.
The purpose of the compi- lation is to expose singers who are hometown people that may have always wanted an opportunity to record, but never had the finances, re- sources, courage, or opportu- nity to make it happen. Singers will audition for SKD Entertainment and once se- lected for the project they will be given the song that will be recorded.
Smith, CEO SKD Enter- tainment, has spent the last decade producing music, preparing artists and traveling the world as full time record- ing artist, headlining events with some of his greatest idols in Gospel and R&B genre.
“I realize that in this in- dustry, there are not a lot of people that will work with people who aren’t already well-known, developed and ready to go,” he said. “Fortu- nately, this is all in my pur- pose. I have the skill set to

assist regular people and give them support, a synergistic plan to become successful.”
Smith’s record label is ex- cited about this upcoming vo- lume of compilations.
“We are looking for every- day people, youth, seniors, rappers, pastors, spoken word artists, soloists from choirs, andmoretojoinustobea part of this historical project,” Smith said.
