Multi-Talented Artist Trumaine Lamar Is The Complete Package
BY MONIQUE STAMPS Sentinel Staff Writer
Singer and songwriter Trumaine Lamar (real name Trumaine Burrell) has distinguished himself as a creative force in a very crowded field. The gifted R&B singer is in great de- mand for his smooth vocals and penchant for writing soulful music.
Born in Omaha, NE and raised in Tampa, Tru- maine attended Howard W. Blake High School for the Arts. He received his un- dergraduate degree from FAMU, and his master’s de- gree from Strayer Univer- sity. He is the proud son of Jim and Betty Burrell.
Trumaine says that his oldest brother, Rashad, aka rapper Ike Breeze, used to take him to the stu- dio. It was there that young Trumaine began learning the craft of making music.
“Being around that en- ergy had a huge impact on me. I created my first track when I was 10 years old.

After that, I just started writing songs, creative writ- ing, and all types of prose.”
After receiving his mas- ter’s degree, Trumaine began working on his music and artistry full-time.
Long-time friends helped him produce his first EP; Things I Should Have Told Her.
Trumaine states that the EP opened doors to spaces he could not have
imagined.
Trumaine sees the
world as his oyster, with possibilities around every corner. The video for his hit single, Never Too Much, will be released shortly.
“I would like to see my- self become more successful and more present as an artist and as a songwriter in a commercial sense. I am a singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer. Each of those roles offers a creative route. I’d like to fully pursue all those tracks,” he says.
Trumaine’s latest EP is
expected by the end of the year.
In the meantime, he keeps busy singing and hosting his show, which fea- tures local and national stars. The show, titled "Rhapsody Suite,” offers unique themes for each show. Held at local hot spot, 7th and Grove, the next show is titled, “Show and Tale” and will be August 19, 2022. Tickets are $25 and avail- able on EventBrite.
Trumaine’s music can be found on Apple Music, Spo- tify, SoundCloud, TIDAL, and Beatport.
