New York Assemblywoman Arrested For Beating Son With Broomstick
Georgia Brothers Sentenced To 20 Years For Trying To Kill Their Parents
Parents after the attack.
Christopher and Cameron Ervin tried to murder their mother and father, Yvonne and Zachery Ervin.
GWINNETT, GA --- Two Georgia brothers pleaded guilty in a brutal attack on their par- ents late Monday afternoon, ex- pressing remorse for their actions, even as they were sen- tenced to 20 years in prison, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Christopher Ervin, the older brother, reportedly told the court and everyone in it that he had been in a bad place at the time of the 2015 attack and for several years prior had been addicted to drugs and alcohol.
His younger brother, Cameron also expressed re- morse and said that he wanted to now spend the rest of his life “showing God how grateful I am that he spared [his par- ents].”
Both brothers were accused of serving their parents Xanax-
spiked cocktails on Sept. 5 2014, when Cameron was 17 and Christopher was 22. The duo then waited for their par- ents to fall asleep before cutting a gas line and attempting to blow up the house, before they went back in and beat their mother, Yvonne with a rifle, and stabbed their father, Zachary, more than 10 times, police believe.
Yvonne Ervin was some- how able to call 911 and get her sons arrested.
Despite the horrors the par- ents went through, both went on to advocate for their sons, pleading for them to get 10 years in prison, the lightest pos- sible sentence for their hefty crimes. Prosecutors were push- ing for 30 years in prison.
By the end of the hearing, the brothers had pleaded guilty to all 13 charges against them – including kidnapping, aggra- vated assault and armed rob- bery – and the judge decided to sentence them to 20 years in prison, with 30 years of proba- tion after that.
Prince Harry Upset That Black Girlfriend Is Being Attacked
Prince Harry and girlfriend, Meghan Markle.
KENSINGTON PALACE, ENGLAND --- Prince Harry has confirmed his relationship with Suits actress Meghan Markle in the most official way ever by issuing a statement via a Kensington Palace press release.
When rumors surfaced about the prince’s relationship with Markle, outlets, like the Daily Mail, posted articles about Markle that were not only blatantly racist, but intru- sive. The tabloid site reported that Markle was from the “drug- and crime-ridden” area of Crenshaw in Los Angeles, and even snidely mentioned that her Black mother and other family members still lived there.
The insinuation, basically, was that Prince Harry was too good for Markle because
she was from the “ghetto.”
On Tuesday morning, Kens- ington Palace issued a public statement, verifying the rela- tionship and blasting racist
trolls.
“His girlfriend, Meghan
Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public—the smear on the front of national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article com- ments,” the statement read.
The statement went on to say that Prince Harry is wor- ried about not only his girl- friend’s privacy, but also that of her friends and family, and is disappointed that he “can’t protect her.”
Assemblywoman Diana Richardson
BROOKLYN, NY --- New York state assemblywoman, Diana Richardson, is facing charges for allegedly beating her 12-year-old son with a broomstick, as reported by CBS News.
Richardson, who repre- sents Brooklyn, N.Y.’s 43rd As- sembly District, was arrested Saturday after her son told po- lice that she caused an abrasion on his arm during an argument they were having at home.
According to CBS News, her son walked into a police station with an arm injury, saying that the argument was over his re- port card.
Prosecutors said Richard- son was released without bail. Authorities said she admitted to hitting her son but said he pushed her first.
Jury Selection Delayed In Federal Case Against Man Who Killed 9 At Emmanuel AME In 2015
CHARLESTON, S.C. — A motion filed by defense attor- neys for Dylann Roof led to a delay of jury selection on Mon- day in the 22-year-old Eastover man's federal hate crimes trial. Dylann shot and killed 9 peo- ple attending Bible Study at Emmanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, S.C. on June 17, 2015.
The court had already planned to take off Election Day and Veterans Day.
Prospective jurors were sup- posed to start appearing for elimination Monday morning, but U.S. District Court Judge Richard Gergel ordered the process delayed while he heard from defense attorneys.
The hearing was only staffed by the defense team, Roof, and Gergel and lasted nearly two hours.
It's unclear what happened inside the hearing, but court of- ficials said afterward there would not be a release of tran- scripts or further statements from the bench on the matter. What is clear is jury selection has been postponed while at- torneys and the court sort though the motion and decide on the next course of action.
Once jury selection resumes, groups of 10 prospective jurors will gather in the courtroom for

questioning until attorneys amass a group of 70. Only two groups will be questioned each day.
The final jury seating will feature 12 primary jurors and 6 alternates.
The federal government in- dicted Roof on nearly three dozen charges, including hate crimes and violating a person's right to exercise religion freely. Roof also faces a state murder trial tentatively set for early next year.
In both cases, the govern- ments are seeking the death penalty. Roof's attorney David Bruck has offered a guilty plea if either government will remove the option of death from the sentences.
Discipline: Making Son Walk Naked In School Parking Lot Leads To Georgia Mom Going To Jail
A Georgia mother is facing charges of child cruelty after police say she forced her 11- year-old son to walk naked through his elementary school parking lot Halloween morn- ing as punishment, Fox 5 At- lanta reports.
According to the report, Joyce Sweetheart Cole told her son that she would embar- rass him in front of people if he got into trouble at school again, a criminal warrant obtained by the news station detailed.
The child was accused of kicking another student at school before his mother came up to the campus, the second time she had had to come to the school to address his be- havior in a month, the station reports.
According to police, several witnesses tried to intervene re- garding the punishment but were unable to stop Cole. Cole is also accused of striking her son in the head with an
