Four Named To Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council

A ‘Male Fashion Revue’

recently named four individ- uals to serve on the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Coun- cil. The appointments must be confirmed by the Florida Senate before becoming offi- cial.
The four individuals are David Dunbar, 62, of Ozona; Frank Rygiel, 40, of Wesley Chapel; and Robert “Pete” Edwards, 63, and Jacob Cremer, 30, both of Tampa.

The appointments of Ed- wards, Cremer, and Ry- giel began on March 17, 2015 and will end on October 1, 2015, if confirmed by the Senate.
Dunbar is the Chairman of the Board of People’s Bank. He fills a vacant seat on the board. Dunbar’s term also began on March 17, 2015, but he will serve at the pleasure of the governor.
On Sunday, March 29, 2015, The Charmettes, Inc. will present a “Male Fashion Revue,” to benefit the “Fifi F. Glymph Academic Scholar- ship Fund.”
The event will be held at the Embassy Suites Brandon, 10220 Palm River Road, Tampa 33619, and will fea- ture some well dressed men of Tampa Bay as models.
The Charmettes, Inc. is a national civic non-profit or- ganization with a chapter in Tampa. The Hillsborough County Chapter has 501© 3 tax exempt status. The mis- sion and objectives of this chapter is to provide assis- tance to local programs, indi- viduals, and families with support and service.
The Charmettes, Inc. sup- ports the education and awareness of cancer re- search, mentor young ladies at Miracles Outreach; pro- vide support and service to young ladies who are at- tempting to make a fresh start into society; and sup- port the youngsters with es- teem building activities.

Scholarship to a high school graduate and/or one whose education was interrupted due to raising a family or working to raise money to help support a college degree. The student must be enrolled in an accredited two or four- year institution.
The Men’s Fashion Revue committee members are: Charmettes Ann Carey, Chairperson, Jacqueline Wilds, Co-Chair, Lejoan Franklin, Janice London, Edna McCants, Betty Kinsey, Areatha Smith, Carolyn Banks, Evelyne Keeton and Joyce Austin. The cost of a ticket is $40.00 per person and can be pur- chased from any Charmette.

West Tampa ‘Blight Study’ Completed

After the City Council and County Commission agreed to give the West Tampa com- munity a CRA designation, that opened the door for the process to begin.
Part of that process was the completion of a Blight Study to identify the critical areas of West Tampa and also the underdeveloped areas.
According to city officials, that study has been com- pleted, and on April 1st, County Commissioners will vote to either reject or ap- prove the extension of the southern boundary of the West Tampa CRA to Kennedy Boulevard.
“If Commissioners vote to approve the boundary exten- sion, it will go back to the City Council for discussion, then a Community Action Plan will be put in place,” said Jeanette Fenton, West Tampa CRA Develop- ment Manager.
“The Community Action Plan has been put together based on information gained from residents and commu- nity groups, and it will be evaluated by both the Council and the Hillsborough County Planning Commission.”
