Gladys Knight Defends Decision To Perform National Anthem At Super Bowl
Taraji P. Henson Honored With Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame
The actress who has blessed us with some of our favorite roles in movies and TV shows, like Hidden Figures and Em- pire, is finally being recog- nized for her contributions on January 28. She will be joined at the ceremony by the likes of Baby Boy director John Sin- gleton and singer-actress Mary J.Blige.
“Taraji P Henson is a powerful woman and a power- ful actress. She is an enter- tainer that fans cannot take their eyes off of due to her great acting ability,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk Of Fame. “We welcome her bright star on our Walk Of Fame.”
The Empire actress made her screen debut back in 1997 with a cameo appearance on- Sister, Sister. But it would be another four years before her breakthrough performance in Singleton’s Baby Boy. An Oscar nomination arose in 2008 for her performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but she still didn’t be- come a household name in most American homes until she took on the role as Cookie Lyon in Empire.

just now finding me as Cookie, thank God for Netflix because people are so moved by my performance they’re like, ‘Where has she been?’” Henson told ESSENCE Maga- zine in the November 2015 cover story. “I’ve always said I want to do the type of work that people study.”
The Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony will take place just before the release on Feb- ruary 9 of her next flick What Men Want, a remake of Mel Gibson’s What Women Want.
Gladys Knight says she wants to “give the National Anthem back its voice.” The music legend released a new statement defending her de- cision to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in Atlanta, next month, amid criticism from fans.
Several artists turned down offers to perform at the Super Bowl in protest of the league’s treatment of Colin Kaepernick. Knight clari- fied that her choice to sing has nothing to do with

Kaepernick, and she does- n't exactly agree with the an- them being "dragged into the debate."
"I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things and they are police violence and injustice,” Knight said in a statement to Variety. “It is unfortunate that our National Anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the National An- them and fighting for justice should each stand alone.”
Chris Brown Vows To Sue Paris Rape Accuser
Chris Brown has vowed to sue his 24-year-old Parisian rape accuser for defamation following his ar- rest.
According to TMZ, the R&B singer’s French attor- ney, Raphael Chiche, said, “Chris Brown is free. No lawsuits were filed against him. He vigorously chal- lenges the charges against him. A complaint for slan- derous denunciation will be filed tomorrow with the pub- lic prosecutor of Paris.”
Brown believes he was set up by the woman and de- nies all allegations. After the alleged sexual assault, she told French publication

Closer Brown took her into a bathroom and raped her for
25 to 30 minutes. She also claims two other men with Brown’s entourage raped her, describing the incident as “brutal” and “violent.”
Sources close to Brown reportedly said that’s impos- sible because there were over 20 people in the same Man- darin Oriental hotel room, including Brown’s reported girlfriend. They were suppos- edly simply “hanging out” and listening to music on Brown’s iPhone.
Following Brown’s ar- rest, a judge released him from jail and allowed him to leave the county. Prosecutors say the investigation is still ongoing.
Hazel E To Testify Against Katt Williams In Court
Hazel E and Katt Williams' relationship may be over, but the reality starlet is set to have a say in the co- median's legal fate, as she claims she was served with papers to appear in court to testify against him.
This all comes a few months after Williams took to social media to beg Hazel for forgiveness after he bru- tally dragged her in an explo- sive rant.
According to theJasmine- BRAND.com, the former Love & Hip Hop star shared on her Instagram Story that she was approached while ex- iting a plane on Wednesday (January 16) morning.

Cardi B Slams Tomi Lahren in Feud Over Trump and Border Wall: ‘I Will Dog Walk You’
Cardi B has had it up to here with people questioning her intelligence.
Known for speaking her mind, the “Money” rapper, 26, has turned her unfiltered opinion towards politics, slamming President Don- ald Trump for refusing to end the federal government shutdown over his controver- sial border wall.
While many fans have been delighted by Cardi’s political musings, conservative FOX Nation host and commenta- tor Tomi Lahren isn’t one of them.
“Looks like @iamcardib is the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democ- rats. HA! Keep it up, guys!” Lahren, also 26, wrote on Wednesday, shortly after Cardi criticized Trump for calling some federal employ- ees back to work without

being paid in an expletive- filled Instagram rant.
On Sunday, Cardi re- sponded by telling Lahren, “Leave me alone or I will dog walk you.”
Lahren went on to insult Cardi’s intelligence, writing, “I’m sure you would. Still doesn’t make your political rambling any less moronic.”
“You’re so blinded with racism that you don’t even re- alize the decisions the presi- dent you root for is destroying the country you claim to love so much,” the rapper wrote back in a fiery response. “You are a perfect example on no matter how educated or smart you think you are you still a SHEEP!”
