East Tampa Man Wounded
Victim Shot Trying To Evade Robbery Suspects
Tampa Police report that at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Delmar Quinonez-Velazquez was in the process of parking a forklift at 5207 30th Street when he was approached by a Black male and a Black female who were trying to rob him.
Police said Quinonez-Ve- lazquez tried running from the pair, and was chased and shot. Officials said his injuries are not life threatening.
The incident is still being investigated, and police have not released any additional in- formation at this time.
Wrong Way Driver Charged With DUI

A 29-year-old Brandon man was taken into custody Saturday and charged with driving while under the influ- ence. He was stopped after an officer observed his vehicle traveling in the wrong direc- tion.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy observed a red Acura traveling in the northbound lanes on Providence Road around 1:35 a.m., Saturday.
The driver reportedly crossed into the southbound lane of Providence Road at Badlands Drive. He continued and then took a left turn onto Brandon Parkway.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop at Providence Road and Brandon Crossing Circle. It was at that time that Kevin Joseph Wills, Jr., of Bran- don, allegedly exhibited signs of impairment and was ar- rested. He was charged with DUI after a BAC of.195 and .189 was recorded.
Wills was released from the Hillsborough County Jail after posting a $500.00 bond.
Investigation Continues In Death Of Couple
In Drive-By Shooting
On Tuesday morning, Tampa Police were called to 3617 East Chelsea Street, a business known as the Blue Store, on a report of a shoot- ing.
When police arrived, they said Leroy Carlyle, 29, was leaving the store when he was shot. Police also said it is be- lieved the shooter was in a Silver Nissan.
Police said there was a group of males gathered out- side of the store at the time of the shooting, and they believe someone in that group may have been the intended tar- get, not Carlyle.

Last week, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into two murders. The bodies of the victims were found within an hour of each other.
According to police, the body of John Karl Tux- ford, 38, was located Tues- day afternoon. He had been shot 5 times. Less than an hour later, the body of Jor- dan Finlon, 23, was found. She had been stabbed more than 30 times.
No one has been charged in connection with the mur- ders. However, police said, a Confidential Informant pro- vided information pertaining to the case.

According to the inform- ant, the murders resulted after the couple allegedly bro- ken into the home of Dwayne Cummings, 38, and took $800. Cummings has been taken into custody and is being held on kidnap- ping and possession of a firearm charges. He had not been charged with the mur- ders.
Police also arrested his cousin, Fredrick Douglas on unrelated warrants. Dou- glas has not been charged in the double murder either.
Police believe three peo- ple were involved in the mur- ders. The investigation is continuing.

The Tampa Police Depart- ment responded to an East Tampa neighborhood for the second time in two days. Both calls were of shots being fired.
According to a spokesper- son for the Tampa Police De- partment, 43-year-old Ronnie Andrews, and Quinton Staton, 22, were standing outside a residence in the 4400 block of Court- land Street around 11:48 p.m. Wednesday.

Woman Attacked By Would-Be Rapist
rection. The suspect then got back into the vehicle and it drove away, police said.
There were no injuries re- ported to police. However, the investigation into the shooting is continuing. Police are attempting to determine who the suspects are and why they were shooting at the vic- tims, the spokesman said.
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently searching for information about a man who attacked a woman early Tuesday. The attack took place in the area of E. Hills- borough Avenue and N. 15th Street.
According to police, the woman was on her front porch around 2 a.m., when the man approached her, grabbed her, and pulled her to the ground. He attempted to remove her clothing as he was unbuckling his pants, police said.
The woman screamed as she was being attacked, but the man placed his hand over her mouth. A motion light was activated by the struggle and area dogs started barking. At that point, the suspect ran away, police said.
