Lil Wayne And Wiz Khalifa Will DJ Your Party For $60K
LIL WAYNE AND WIZ KHALIFA
In the trailer for the new DJ movie We Are Your Friends, Zac Efron says, “To be a DJ all you need is a laptop, some talent, and one track.”
That is, unless you’re a rap- per.
Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa are trying to break into the industry, Paris Hilton- style. The pair are demanding a king’s ransom – $60k (in the same range as Armin Van Buuren) and $25k respec- tively – to spin at parties, on top of all the usual amenities the superstars are used to in- dulging in. As if that wasn’t enough of a reason to hate this story, here’s the kicker: Wiz Khalifa’s new alias is DJ DaddyKat.
The two are making their debut at Anaheim’s hip-hop club Heat Ultra Lounge – Wayne on June 16 and DJ WizKatDaddy next Friday Night.
Grandmaster Flash And Furious Five Members At War
GRANDMASTER FLASH AND THE FURIOUS FIVE
With His Daughter Royalty's Mother
Royalty's mother Nia Guzman allegedly claims Chris Brown 'cut off payments after she demanded $15k a month.'
After giving his daughter, Royalty, a taste of the show- biz life when he took her to the Billboard Music Awards last weekend, Chris Brown is re- portedly locked in a legal battle over child support.
According to reports, 26- year-old Loyal singer Chris stopped paying former fling Nia Guzman their initially
agreed figure of $2,5000 a month for their 11-month-old daughter's upkeep back in March.
The website reports that the star decided to cut off the cash supply after Texas-based former model Nia requested that the payments be in- creased six-fold to $15,000 a month.
One of the most cele- brated Hip Hop groups of all time is currently in the midst of a war of words and a battle over legacy.
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was a collection of six South Bronx representatives. While Flash’s name led the crew’s moniker, it was five rappers (Melle Mel, The Kidd Creole, Keith Cowboy, Scorpio, and Rahiem) that laid down the vocals for the crew’s tracks like “Sup- per Rappin,” “Beat Street,” and the classic “The Mes- sage.”
Flash eventually parted ways with the group, but the other surviving members are
upset that he is still recog- nized as the de facto repre- sentative of the Furious Five. Melle Mel and Scor- pio reportedly have had dif- ficulty performing under the brand that they helped estab- lished. Scorpio even publicly called Flash the “Milli Vanilli of Hip Hop.”
AllHipHop.com inter- viewed Grandmaster’s Melle Mel. where the rap pioneer spoke about his con- cerns with Grandmaster Flash’s continuous role as an outsider from the group. Particularly, Mel addressed the controversy surrounding the induction of “The Mes- sage” into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2012.
Former Jay Z Protege Talks About Jay Z And Tidal
Jay Z’s ongoing business battle with streaming com- petitors Apple, Spotify, and Google has been in the head- lines for weeks. The Hip Hop mogul’s purchase and re- launch of the Tidal platform has garnered criticism from the public, and rival compa- nies have reportedly launched efforts to halt its success.
Jay fired back at the naysayers during his B-Sides concert in New York City, re- cently. The Brooklyn born emcee spit a freestyle which included direct shots at Spo- tify and Google owned YouTube. Joe Budden ad- dressed his former boss, Jay Z’s “B-Sides Freestyle” on his podcast last week.
“[Jay] made mention of [Nike co-founder] Phil Knight and [Apple co- founder] Steve Jobs. What he alluded to was that he faces a different type of oppression because of the color of his skin. I think smear campaigns are business. I think the streaming business is very lu- crative and beneficial today.
Joe Budden was once on label where Jay Z was the presi- dent.
It just so happened that today Tidal is not considered that. But you shouldn’t be con- sidered that in your fourth month of business. I don’t think anything is happening that, as wise as a businessman that he is, he shouldn’t have anticipated...
None of this stuff should come as a shocker to him which is why it’s a bit alarming to me that so much damage control continues to be done. I think the freestyle was dam- age control.”
Budden partially blamed Jay, then Def Jam president, for the lack of success while at the company. The two also ex- changed shots at each other on records.
